From the article: “No. 25 Utah (+59): Our voters are clearly expecting a return to form for Kyle Whittingham’s program, bouncing back from last year’s 5-7 showing to be right back in the mix for the Big 12 title. Some more consistent availability at the quarterback position will be a welcome start, with Devon Dampier arriving from New Mexico to be…[Read more]

First… it’s the offseason. Second… There’s a ton of great content here. Just ignore the TSPP category and you’ll probably filter out most the stuff you don’t want. It’s really unfortunate that we are in a conference with “them” again. Their fan’s childish CB mentality brings everyone around them down to a junior high cat fight level. I was so…[Read more]

It has indeed been a great ride. I love what KW has done for Utah football. In fact, no one has done more for Utah football than Whitt. However, there comes a time when you need to move on and hand things over to the new guy. In this case, he will be handing it over to the guy he mentored and taught.
I hope that this is KW’s last season. I…[Read more]

Winning cures a lot of ills…. always does. I’m cautiously optimistic about this year and hoping the team is relatively injury free and the O-Line is cracked up to be the force everyone expects it to be. It’s as close to an NFL line as Utah has ever had, that means trouble for the opposition.

If I had to guess at one cause, I’d say it’s the successful year they had down south.
Our 2023 was disappointing, but we were still the best team in the state. In 2024, we were not. That’s probably raised some blood pressure around here.

Awesome post! Don’t care what anyone says! I would take Grit over love in my football coach any day. His days are numbered but it’s been a great ride!

Thanks for sharing. Of all of the interviews, I think my favorite take was Kenny Dillingham’s. Everybody equates Kyle with toughness and discipline and family and none of those are wrong. Dillingham is the first person I can remember though who measured Kyle’s success by the number of years that Utah could realistically win the conference. It’…[Read more]

I visit Ute Hub regularly, hoping for my latest fix of Utah football news/information/discussion.
I know I don’t contribute much, but I look for an opportunity here and there.Maybe it is just me, but it seems like the dialogue on this board has become a bit more toxic lately:
– People seem quick to call someone a ‘zoob’ if they don’t agree with…[Read more] -

Honestly, I’m going to tell you what I told BYU football fans for so many years when they were fixated on their success in the 1970s, 80s and a chunk of the 90s: I don’t care. It’s not relevant to me what a program did 30 years ago. If you have to reach back that far, you’re losing the argument and you look desperate doing it.
When was the last…[Read more]

Re-read what I put. I said I don’t understand how someone can look at the last 25 years and claim Utah is of better stature than BYU. That’s not the same as saying in the last 25 years, BYU is better.
But again, it’s kind weird that you guys keep getting stuck on BYU. BYU is only part of the equation. I’ve also mentioned Colorado and SDSU (as…[Read more]

Charlie replied to the topic How often do 2nd-string OL players see the field? in the forum Football 1 week, 4 days ago
I was wondering the same. Another possibility would be to completely sub out the OL in game situations when the Utah win is no longer in doubt. Hopefully that is the case near the end of several games with the most sets in Provo.

OL rarely rotate except in the situations you identified.

I would hope they had more success. They played 3 or 4 tough games a year. Winning 20 games playing WCC competition does not make you a better program. Utah was playing a much harder schedule. Would BYU have done better than Utah in the Pac 12? To say BYU has been better the past 25 years is ridiculous. No arguement that Utah has been down but…[Read more]

@BeachUte you’re missing the point. But I will play along because zoobs tend to forget history.
BYU overall basketball win % .629%. Utah .635%.
NCAA tournament appearances BYU 32, Utah 29.
Final Fours BYU, 0 Utah 4.
Championships BYU 0 Utah 1(1944).
Ranking in the AP Poll preseason, Final and Weeks, BYU 6,13,159. Utah 9,21,239 weeks.…[Read more]

I never said they were on par with Gonzaga? I But it’s undeniable BYU has had more success than Utah the last 15 or so years. Hell, it’s almost been a decade since the Runnin’ Utes even made the NCAAs. Al also said, “The opposing QB must get hit and taken down”. Starts with Defense. That being said, if the Offense sucks again, 7-5 is a ceiling.

You saying BYU is on par with Gonzaga based on the past 15 years? BYU was in the worst league with Gonzaga. Other than this past year when was the last time BYU made it past the first round of the tournament? No doubt an influx of NIL money has catapulted them in to national spotlight. As bad as Utah BB has been I don’t see any separation b…[Read more]
