  • I was already excited about the Beck hire, but listening to him speak both about personnel and his philosophy have me even more hopeful we got a good one.

Utah sports talk radio 101 content is capturing both BYU-Utah, and the hybrids. Kall 700 is very protective of KW. Occasionally poach the Utah football specific guests, Weddle, Mitchell, coaches, pressers, etc on the podcast rewind. Other than that, OC’s program is hard to listen to live. I imagine filling 3-4 hours of talk radio everyday is c…[Read more]

  • I took a couple things out of the press conference. The offense will be designed to fit talent instead of players taking years to learn a complicated system. Scalleys comments about difficulties defending Becks offense led me to believe he has the offense he wants. New excitement in the RB room. Defense still has some talent but needs to build…[Read more]

  • Technically Whitt said, “He’s not on the current roster.” That would leave the door open. I am not suggesting or hoping that Cam stays. I’m just saying that Whitt’s words were carefully parsed, leaving the door open.

BUT – I do not think Cam is staying. Personally, I think we need to move on. I love CR, but we need to move on to the next…[Read more]

  • Whitt is so fond of Rising, that it wouldn’t surprise me to see Rising stick around as a GA this year. Why keep killing your body? Get a head start on a coaching career, if that’s what he’s into. It’s certainly more lucrative than Criminal Justice.

Our best success with Ludwig was when Cam was changing the plays at the line. He very well may…[Read more]

  • That was Whit flat out telling us, without telling us out right, that Cam is NOT coming back. He knows it’s Cam’s place to announce that, BUT he isn’t waiting around. He wants to make it known due to the criticism a lot of fans have given him regarding Cam’s injuries.

Regarding Cam, he changed Utah football and showed us what could be with the…[Read more]

For the most part OC is pretty good. He travels a lot so he has a replacement host that is awful. I agree the home of the Utes shouldn’t be talking about the Y. I get that this past season they were up and we were down so it was maybe more appealing to talk about them, but the only interview should be maybe on a rivalry week.
    I listened and…[Read more]

I used to be a very loyal listener to ESPN 700 and 1280. Both have gone downhill IMO. I just stopped listening to all of it and I have been much happier. I have also stopped obsessing over recruits, NIL, and the portal. When I did, it put it all in perspective for me and it has made me become less obsessed with all things Utah, Big 12, etc.…[Read more]

  • According to Whitt Cam is not on the 2025 roster. Cam also hasn’t stated his intentions for next year yet – curious to see what his plan is.

I will always have fond memories of Cam leading us to 2 Pac-12 Championships and Rose Bowls. One of the best QBs in Utah football history!

I agree, O’Connell is obsess with BYU. I stop listening to his show. I want till 2 to start listening to 700AM. I use not miss the earlier show (11AM-2pm)
I have no problem with someone who enjoys the loves BYU football, but he should go on the other channel.
It’s always humorous when Individuals that are on radio read messages like ours they tak…[Read more]

  • I would guess they would try and replicate Deion with some flashy former player “player’s coach” type that will send their program back to the abyss where it belongs

I said this very same thing awhile back as well. 700 is home of the Utah culture obsessive personalities.

  • At this point, I think he would take it. When he turned it down in 2020, I think he had his heart set on becoming an NFL head coach. Five years later and I think he can see that ain’t gonna happen, so college might be his only shot to be the head man.

This is, I believe, a concept that is not understood by many. There are precious few programs with the critical mass and momentum to change coaches, replace legions and simply hit the ground running. I so much wish Utah was one but I think I grasp the brutal facts of our reality that Utah is one of the schools in the tier that fight hard just to…[Read more]

I loved that he builds the O around the best players on the team and what they do well. That seems common sense, but was one of the frustrations I had with Lud’s offense. Have post injury Kuithe run an end around is a great example of NOT DOING this. I love BK, but he was much slower post injury but we kept running the plays he excelled at…[Read more]
