I wouldn’t want them to replace the Huntsman Center unless they were doing something really cool and if it was close to RES (downtown would be a really bad idea, in my opinion).
Consistently winning will get people back to the games. RES isn’t downtown and they’ve sold out for 15 years. Why? Because we’ve been good. The U is investing in stude…[Read more]

I thought Larry should’ve gotten at least one more season when he was fired after 2020-21 and I was one of the minority voices with that opinion among Utah fans. Many fans had lost patience with him and wanted to move on, and didn’t seem to realize we might get a coach who was even worse.
Looking back, I still think Larry should have had one more…[Read more]

I guess we’ll never know, but I think Utah probably made a mistake when they fired Coach K. Maybe not, but consider what probably would’ve been our roster if we gave him one more year:
Timmy Allen – Ended up being probably the second or third best player for Texas (who went to the Round of 32 + Elite 8). Pro in Europe now.
Alfonso Plummer -…[Read more] -

80% of the teams in college football run the same playbook currently with different nomenclature. The RPO is not some magic thing, it is zone read plus… As stated, the difference is discipline and if the history is any indicator, Utah O-line has a hard time holding up and staying in the 3 yards.
It is not like Beck is bringing a revolution.…[Read more]

I think the one thing right school needs to focus on to keep the national respect for the school on the big stage, outside of its medical research institution, is the football program. That, IMO, is the #1 priority that is imperative to keep the image, profile and brand recogntion on the national stage, especially in the Big12. If the athletic…[Read more]

This is an interesting comment. The reason I say that is because, in the six seasons that I’ve been going to MBB on a regular basis, I personally have never had a single issue with parking or departing a game. Maybe it’s different if you’re driving south from the JHC? I live in Davis County and I’ve had no issues at all. And that includes…[Read more]

Mass kicks ass, after all.
Love it! I’ll add it to my lexicon.

Malcolm Gladwell did a podcast years ago about foul shots. Interviewed Rick Barry who shot the granny shot. Rick convinced Wilt Chamberlain to shoot that way for a while and his % skyrocketed, but he the teasing and laughs made him switch back. He said if he would have stuck with it he would have been the all time leading scorer hands down. I…[Read more]

Keller is flat out awful and should be getting zero minutes. I liked Lohner coming off the bench to spell Lovering. He’s not tall enough to guard a true center (like that corn-fed mule Kansas had) but he’s got heft and knows how to throw it around. That’s good enough for a backup. Mass kicks ass, after all.

Pretty much the FT issue is Lovering, not so much the team. It is several games now that others are more than happy to foul him to try to come back. They are more than willing to not guard him at all on the outside giving him a 5 on 4 to try to find a pass since he does not shoot much from the outside. The dilemma is he is our best inside defender…[Read more]

I’ll be there on Monday as well. Hope that the team doesn’t have a letdown playing an unimpressive KSU team.

I think that any new basketball venue must have acreage dedicated to parking adjacent to the building. If they cater to the fans by getting them to the game without the contant worry of getting a parking space and then being able to exit the venue without spending an hour slowly creeping out, the fans will come.
Yes, they need to field at least…[Read more]

Missed attending due to a family commitment up north that got me home well after midnight and watched the tape this morning.
Great win for the team. Other than Lovering (who must be given credit for hard nosed defense), the team was 16-19 from the charity stripe and as a team we had just 7 turnovers against an aggressive defensive…[Read more]

I kind of blew this game off because I wanted to watch the USA vs Canada hockey game and thought that Utah would have a hard time versus Kansas. I’m not questioning that decision since the hockey game was extremely entertaining and I was able to catch Utah’s second half on TV. The game kind of reminded me of the Arizona game at the JHC during…[Read more]

One change I am hoping to see is an offense that relies on execution without needing mystery each week. I would love to see practice open to fans to watch sometimes. An attitude of sure you have seen all that we do but all the way up to two seconds after the snap there still remains more than one thing we may be doing and you must hesitate to be…[Read more]

I’m well known to be a basketball-first fan and I don’t care for football as a sport quite as much. But I would still take the football wins over the hoops natty. I understand that football runs the show, and without that football success, we’d still be in the MWC today.
As a basketball fan, being in the MWC means that our absolute ceiling would…[Read more]

I think today I’m going to avoid my usual criticizing and just enjoy the win. There are obviously areas where we can still improve, but there are no perfectly executing teams in college BB. We just beat the #17 team in the country! And it was a fun game – very entertaining. Kudos to the Kansas fans – they travel well. And they’re really into their…[Read more]

Way to build that straw man buddy.
You said they had the SAME overall playbook. You also said Ludwig claims to have had 1000 plays or whatever. They will not have the same playbook. They will not have the same offense. Ludwig is gone allegedly because his offense was too difficult to install in today’s transfer portal era. If they had the SAME…[Read more]

I don’t care what scheme we run as long as it works. I hope I can’t sit in my seat at the stadium and tell what the next play is by which players are on the field and where they lineup. I hope Beck mixes things up enough that we stop being so damn predictable.
