McBride established the culture and poly pipeline. Urban brought discipline and a winning attitude. Whitt built off the two and ushered in the Pac12 era. He has established a solid program and his player development has been amazing. Until Urban showed up Utah football was not even on the map. As a long time fan it’s been an amazing ride. Whitt h…[Read more]

This is one phrase that I hate even more than “It’s a game-time decision.” And that says a lot.
Political leaders on both sides and the media love to use this phrase. It is their way of making the topic sound important and dire. These two words are so misused in today’s America.
However, I guess that our 2024 football season was an…[Read more]

I think that’s the multiplier, is that Witt has done it while almost always being at a resource and spotlight disadvantage to his competition. Consistently outperforming expectations is the mark of a good coach, and I think he’s consistently done that. Consistently identified and developed talent that maybe others have missed and got us…[Read more]

Dude you are comparing apples to oranges. Ronnie Mac coached in the MWC. Kyle won 2 P12 championships. These are not comparable.
Utah competed in the P12 with massive disadvantages in terms of recruitment and resources. Ronnie Mac competed with advantages over most of the other MWC teams.
Utah winning even one championship was extremely…[Read more]

Being a backup is probably the best position in Football. You actually can walk correctly post career and most likely won’t have CTE issues.

I hope he gets a spot somewhere, too. I just doubt it will be with the Browns. They have like 6 QBs on the roster. They needed him during camp while some minor injuries heal.

He’s very skilled, and a super lovable dude. You just can’t not like this guy.

Great post proud Ute. It’s nice to see the other side of the NIL portal madness. The type of player you can really root for (even better he is an Olympus high alum like me). Player development and culture has been the calling card of the program since Whitt took over. I know I’ll cheer a little louder when I see that # on the field.

I know Sanders looked alright tonight, but when Huntley came in he really looked great. There is something about being a career backup that just gives you the ability to perform whenever your number gets called. Hopefully he gets a shot this year to keep his career going!

Not wanting to throw shade on Whittingham, but in reflection I’m not nearly as bewitched with ‘the man’ as many on this board. Three conference championships in 20 years. Not bad. Just not great. One of which we can thank a convoluted 2nd place tie-breaker in ’22 for squeaking us into that championship game. And another back in ’08 with a…[Read more]

I think predictive play calling has been an issue for a while. Maybe its just a result of poor QB play though.

My ire is purely aimed at sucking. I have a little ire reserved for being back in the same conference as the zoobs because I am one of those people that don’t enjoy the “rivalry” on iota and would prefer if we never played them again. I know I’m in the minority in that respect, but I find the fact that we are tied at the hip annoying and feel…[Read more]

Given how much of an unknown our WRs are, and how low expectations are for that group, they can make huge strides and still not be good enough to prevent Snowden from being needed to go both ways.

I agree it’s apples to oranges but Utah also benefited from a tougher schedule, higher RPI and positioned much stronger for the NCAAs than if they were in a two-bid league.
The reality is that Utah missed the NCAAs at least four times under the last two coaches because of some bad losses that popped their bubble or super weak preseason…[Read more]

For most of the past decade, it’s been apples and oranges. What BYU did in the WCC is more analogous to what we did back in the MWC/WAC back in the day. It’s a lot easier to put up a gaudy record and get into the rankings if you don’t play in a conf with a lot of depth. Back in the day, it was Utah and maybe 2 or 3 others (UNM, UNLV, TCU, BYU,…[Read more]

I’m in the same boat. If it motivates them to work harder and makes our team better, I’m all for it. I just don’t want everyone watching the game to know what is going to happen when certain players come on the field. The only time that should be the case is with a kicker or punter.

I have no problem with 2 way players as long as they aren’t used in predictive ways.
