I am very hopeful the play calling will be better this year. Can’t tell you how many times I sat on the couch and called the plays out. Lud was so transparent. Also, no QB threat = stacked box = predictably limited run game and lots of third-and-not-so-manageable.

shon, you need to pay a little more attention to the games! blame Ludwig for Wilson poor play. offense has been pathetic for past two years. this has very little to do with QB and a lot to do with the play calling.

So here’s the only question that matters in my mind at this point:

Are the Utes now better off at WR with the additions of Merriweather and Simmons than they’d be if Z. Williams would have stayed?

That same consensus had Utah winning the conference last year and ASU taking last. I could care less what the consensus says.

He’s coming in as a depth piece nothing more. At best he’s Utah’s Short yardage back at 210lbs

But I’m sorry you’re so bummed that Jeremiyah Love Notre Dame RB and top returning RB in CFB in 25 didn’t decide to transfer to Utah to be RB5

Maybe reevaluate your priorities or just get over yourself.

One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. Maybe he becomes the next Tavion Thomas (minus the psychological issues), or maybe he just has a cup of coffee with the Utes. I will say the fact that he transferred so late in the game and was available to Utah definitely means that all of the traditional football powers passed on the guy.

I mean after the last two seasons you can’t fault anyone being realistic instead of being overly optimistic.

I don’t see this as negativity. It’s just the reality. Do you honestly think I’m wrong? He was at VT for two years and had a total of 128 yards. The next year, in a muuuuuch lower division of football, he had 285 yards. His YPC was quite good at around 6, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll do that here.

I sure hope his lack of production at his last spot was due to injury or some other non-football reason, because his production thus far is not inspiring confidence. Nice to have another guy I guess.

Great! I only heard about this guy today on the Blockcast podcast. He should be a great depth piece and looks to have the size/talent to make some plays for us in the future.

Let’s tone down the Isaac hate. He is still a member of our team and is working hard to rebuild confidence. Your exaggerated hot take certainly won’t help in that regard.
We’ll see if he can process the game faster and make better decisions in the future. If so, his arm strength/talent alone could make him a solid part of our QB room.

I saw that. Good for Covey. He is one of my all-time favorite players. I hope he get a chance to play receiver.

I’ve been a fan my whole life and I’m 54. Wilson was the worst QB I have ever watched in a Utes uniform. The running game was average & the play calling poor. Not sure how good Dampier is, but anyone, myself included, is better than Wilson. Wilson was so bad he would have been third string at Weber State.

He could be a great big body option for short turn in routes for touchdowns and conversion plays for first downs. Dampier excels at quick on time passes, so Merriweather fits in nicely to Beck’s offense.

2 things Utah has done very well over the years

1. Recruit players ‘under the radar’ and develop them over a few years into great contributors, often ready to play on Sunday.

2. Players that play here a few years, get a feel for a ‘family’ type atmosphere and bond together as a unit.
