I didn’t need a sexy hire. I wanted a complete overhaul of the offense starting with the staff and ending with the philosophy and got none of it. Apparently the only thing “plug and play” is coaches from Whitt’s limited rolodex.
I can’t even be disappointed at this point since Whitt staying and doing what he’s been doing for his whole career was…[Read more]

Weird dude. Decent football coach.

Will Wilson stay?
How about Rose and Huard?
Will Dampier come to Utah?
We have two new freshmen coming in.
Will we go to the portal?
Oh, and I guess Rising is still a possibility. 🙂 (I highly doubt it, but …)

At least half of BYU’s coaching staff has ties to Utah many of Utah’s staff has ties to BYU. Hardly anyone on Utah’s staff graduated outside of the state of Utah. That in and of itself is odd in NCAA football.
When BYU was on top of the football world, their offensive and defensive coordinators were Utah grads. Oh, and their head coach was a…[Read more]

Some of the challenges of the triple option:
1. The likelihood of the QB getting hit more often and injured.
2. If they are not a great passer it can be frustrating for receivers. They do a lot of running just to watch the QB take off running over and over again.
3. More holding penalties as OLs struggle to keep track of which direction the qb…[Read more]

New Mexico beat Wazzu who had the other OC and QB that we wanted.
Utah with only 7 rushing TD’s means a whole hell of a lot. Utah in ‘21 and ‘22 had 37 and 38 rushing TD’s. What happened? Should we bring Ludwig back?

I doubt many actually watched full New Mexico games this year so stats and highlights are all we’ve got.
I did find it weird that you wondered why so many are fixated on stats and then threw stats and manipulated stats at us.,,

Not the sexy big name hire many Ute fans wanted, but might be a good pick anyway.

Repeating much of what was already said.
I’m not disappointed, but I’m not going to allow myself to get super excited either. No matter who we got, my feeling was and still is to reserve judgement until we’re at least 3-4 (maybe even 6) games into next season. Maybe the other two guys were higher up on the target list. Maybe not though.…[Read more]

Jason Beck is a true blue BYU guy. Loves Bronco, who we all know hates Whit…who hates Bronco right back. Beck has followed Bronco for most of his career. Then goes to Utah as OC under Whit.
Bronco is a former BYU HC and Becks coach and mentor. Goes to Utah State as HC…on the same day his OC goes to Utah as OC.
That’s not even mentioning LaVel…[Read more]

You’re neither “accurate” nor “honest”. You said you’d never post on here if your pick for OC didn’t come to fruition. Yet here you are, 2-hrs after Jason Beck was hired as Utah’s newest OC, still posting.
If you want to post lies, go to cougarboard. They live for those types of fantasies. You’ll fit right in. You’d be venerated even. They…[Read more]

Fifita beat Utah at home so in Utah fans minds that means good. Guy is pretty average. I would take him for sure but if it was between Fifita and Dampier I would take the one Beck has used already.

#5 rushing offense in the nation this past season. A spot in front of Boise State and 2200 yard rusher Ashton Jeanty.

12 TDs & 12 picks in general is not a good ratio, but 12 TDs & 12 picks along with 19 rushing TDs is absolutely outstanding!
Not sure why everyone is always so fixed on stats. If the odds of scoring within the Redzone are higher by running the ball than by passing, you run the damn ball. Its not brain surgery here. Dampier is a hell of a…[Read more]
