Well if you look at the replay, there are 2 angles that you can see where Glasker’s hands are on Rose. In both angles, he was close to the helmet, but he was not grabbing the face mask at all. I get why the ref called it, it looked like a face mask with the way his head turned, but it was not one. The bad call led to a touchdown for Utah. I w…[Read more]

Yeap, but the good thing is that you can flip the script from one season to the next. Now more than ever…

I can’t get past the ball placement on that throw. Right at the sideline but still in bounds so Kuithe didn’t have to make a jumping or tip-toe catch. Even if the DB hadn’t stumbled, I don’t think he could have gotten to the ball to knock it away. Just a perfect dime.

Our DB’s missing pick 6s has now cost us two games (Houston being the other). We seem to be afraid to make big plays.

For me, Minnesota is the only one on that list that is no longer a blue blood. In robber baron terms, they are the Vanderbilt family which squandered it’s fortunes through multiple bad generations and other than Anderson Cooper are no longer relevant.
The Ivy’s still hold their blue blood status even though they don’t compete at the highest…[Read more]

UTE98 replied to the topic Monday afternoon QBing here. 59 seconds calling TOs vs 49 seconds no TOs in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
The deal is if they run it into the middle of the field to set up for the FG with less then 30 seconds, Utah has the right to substitute, we’d been taking their play clock down most of the game with this strategy. Force them to have to really hurry to launch the kick because a penalty results in another 10 second run off. With :49 I think the…[Read more]

Yeah, I physically saw that game versus Notre Dame…Lou Holtz was the ND coach at the time and it wasn’t pretty…
Stanford has been down since 2019, but, immediately prior to that, they won an Orange Bowl, a Foster Farms Bowl, two Rose Bowls, and two Sun Bowls. In addition, they went to but lost an additional Rose Bowl, a Fiesta Bowl, an…[Read more]

Refs have the right to pick up the flag if they don’t feel it had any effect on the play. Retzlaf had no chance to even throw the ball. It’s all water under the bridge and we missed a pick 6 I think the next play. Winning teams find ways to win losing teams find ways to lose.

They also have a 1-11 season a few 2’s and a few 3’s. Outside of the Andrew Luck/McCaffrey years, not good.

To the facemask – there are only two people who know what happened, Rose and the DE. Based on the head movement, including after Rose was on the ground, something was grabbed. What I think happened is, in the replays you can see the DE’s hand contact Roses helmet near the earhole at about the jaw line. I suspect, based on Rose’s head movement,…[Read more]

Lots of hyperbole here. Which is understandable after that game, that ending and how our season has gone. But we still need to keep perspective.
1. Other than us involved in the Holy War, no one will remember his rant. It was a momentary blip on espn during the meat of college football season. This kinda stuff occasionally happens in bitter…[Read more]

I don’t know, that seems pretty tame to me considering the context. We just snatched a last second win to preserve our perfect season, against our rival. It was also the first win there since 2006.
I can understand BYU fans being excited and cheering for their team. If they were cussing in your face and being belligerent that would be s…[Read more]

They played for a national title in the 80s, six Big East titles in the 2000s, multiple BCS wins. And a very raucous and passionate fan base.
Stanford 13 losing seasons since 2000.

Totally, and forgive me if it seemed like I was trying to place the blame away from the offense. That wasn’t my intention. But I assume Scalley will take a look at that part of the defense anyway and try to address it – the competitor that he is will demand every area that needs improvement actually improves.

Nothing matters if you win, we can’t. A few years ago it started with bowl games, now in 2024 it’s games against Houston. The program can’t continue in the same direction as Whittingham any longer and the way forward is plain as day.

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Kickoff Strategy in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
What do the analytics say about fielding a competent offense? Apparently Whit doesn’t pay attention to that information. Take away the kickoff returned for a touchdown and we win that game even with the second half offensive turtle mode.
I don’t think our special team kick coverage is good enough to risk the potential big return on short kicks.…[Read more]
