I don’t think that’s how it going to work. He’ll retire and some of the money will be rolled into a retirement package. Again, I don’t know but it all makes sense why he’d retire and still get a chunk of that money.

that’s some serious Whitt mythology you’ve got going there. He’s going to pass up 20 mil because it will be more important his grand-kids mow lawns to learn the power of hard work.

High ticket prices late game starts and a bad product on the field. All leave a sour taste in my mouth. I would never boo but I have been disappointed in the whole game experience this year and last year. My 14 year old grandson and his friend who both play and love football fell asleep during the Arizona game. That sums it up for me.

Well have to disagree. When byu trots onto the field on Nov 9, I’ll boo until my vocal cords fall out.

well said Jim. The future can’t start if Utah is going to be stuck in the past.

Or knowing Whitt he’ll make sure his great grandkids know the meaning of hard work and earning your own money.

for him personally, I’m sure you’re right that he has whatever he needs already. But this is generational money. An extra 20 mil can make sure that his great-grandkids are never wanting

If you’re a recruit and the head coach you want to play for is retiring possibly before you even get there. Head coach in waiting has no HC experience. Lots of seniors leaving and not much talent to build on. This year is the beginning of the end for a few years. Good time to step down and let Scalley start the rebuilding process. I expect lots o…[Read more]

Agree on the OC point. Doesn’t make sense for KW to hire the OC if Morgan is taking over in the next 1-2 years. Naming a coach in waiting secures continuity with Morgan and signals KW has his eye on the door. I’m sure there’s perk overlap with the consultant gig in his contract. Good hell, KW makes enough $ for 10 people to comfortably retir…[Read more]

If Whitt leaves, I don’t think it will help us. CFB has changed and it’s kind of an ugly greedy gross thing these days with few things left that defined the early Whitt era. But I don’t see anyone radically better in the wings waiting to jump into his shoes.
If he wants to leave though I won’t blame him at all. We just won’t be getting better…[Read more]

I agree with physicality if you have the size. There is a fine line between bulking up to be physical and losing mobility. OLine and Dline has to be physical. I’d take speed and agility over bulk and physical in the linebackers and safeties. Watch Lander make a tackle in space or overrun a play. He is muscle bound and unable to move laterally. L…[Read more]

Players get paid now and fans pay a lot to go to games. I think we are past the point in college football where nobody should boo because it might hurt the player’s feelings.

20 years to recover? They won the MW Crowton’s first year and Bronco had some very good teams.
Whittingham isn’t being forced out. He is probably the furthest coach from the hot seat in college football. He might call it quits though. He is 65 and this year has to be extra hard on him with the super high expectations. He already has named…[Read more]

1. “there should have been…”
– You don’t know if there was or wasn’t. For all we know, Whitt was told Rising would make a full recovery. There are only two people who can say anything about this without speculating: Doctoro Numero Uno, and Whitt.2. Again, speculation. you don’t know what Whitt knew and didn’t know. You think you know, but you…[Read more]

He has literally gotten injured(or missed the whole season) every year. Nobody should have pushed back that he was injury prone. The biggest recent failure of Whittingham was not having a QB ready to go for 23. Rising to Barnes is such a colossal drop off.

Don’t think contract length has anything to do with when Whittingham will step down. Coaches rarely get to the end of their contract anyway. They are either fired before or retire. Nick Saban had several years left on his deal, but walked away for example. National Champion basketball coach Tony Bennett did the same thing last week.…[Read more]

My guess (I literally know nothing) is he gets some of that rolled into his retirement package whatever it’s called. Of course he’s a competitor but he’s also a 65 year old grandfather now with tons of money. I just don’t think that money is as big of a sticking point for him staying or going as we may think.
