ProudUte started the topic Smith and Ainge have destroyed the Jazz in the forum NBA 3 months ago
I understand trying to tank for a year or two in an attempt to get some top-tier players in the draft. But, this has got out of hand. Interest in the Jazz is way down. It will not be easy to build things back up. I do not understand their approach.
Honestly, I have lost any interest in the Jazz.

The longer this goes without an announcement is not good. It seems that Alex is not sure if he wants to take the job. I understand it would be hard to take on a sinking ship.
Alex met with Harlan last Friday, and I’m sure he was offered the job at the time. If we don’t hear anything today, I have my doubts we will get Alex.
I hope Alex…[Read more]

If I have one concern, it is his humility. Maybe in the NIL era, that actually will play better. But it certainly seems like many successful NCAA coaches have pretty big egos, at least in the past. That said, I see a good number of successful coaches at the NBA level that seem more quiet and humble. From my perspective, this is the difference…[Read more]

It’s not hard to know where my allegiances lie, my icon, my moniker, and I remember graduating with Andre Miller.
At the time I often spoke with a girl who worked in the athletic program and gave me insight into the basketball program.
While Andre Miller was a Prop 48 recruit, he absolutely nailed it at the U. Nobody outworked him on the floor…[Read more]

I often wonder what all those players would have been and become without RM though. Not saying they wouldn’t, but I do wonder.

Solid post MU. Seems some schools are already on it or at least out in front of everyone else. Houston from a BB perspective is doing something right. Kelvin Sampson with solid NIL support has turned Houston into a power house. UH’s been making deep runs into the NCAA tourney the last 6 years straight.
Agree on expectations. Looked back to see…[Read more]

Hey, by the way, I was right about ESPN…it was #2 on the ESPN Top 10 Highlights for 1 March 2025.

Isn’t that an interesting irony…
On one hand, kid was struggling to get off the bench for Craig.
On the other hand, he is pretty much in our top 3, if not our top guy, that we want to retain for next year and will be getting significant offers from other programs.
Maybe Craig was just stupid?

Dawes leading team in total rebounds with significantly fewer minutes than a few of the other big men.

Sorry, but it doesn’t appear to be correct in any meaningful sense that I can see.
He has the lowest (good) defensive rating on the team and it’s not even close. He is 98.9, and next closest is Miro at 102.1, Ezra is down at 103.5.
He has the highest defensive rebounding rating at 13.8, and again it’s not even close. Next one on the ist is…[Read more]

I wonder if the current NIL era is actually better for folks with NBA chops than it was back when we brough in Boylen from the Bucks. I have heard many commentators talk about how NCAA teams will be run much more like professional franchises in the go forward, with a GM type making player decisions around money in consultation with the head…[Read more]

KD reminds me of Shawn Marion. He is smooth and can shoot or get to the rim. His lack of playing time has to be a result of his defense. How else can you explain? Defense has been an issue with Smith’s teams especially on the road. Offensively he is a tough matchup and can score and get rebounds. He would be my top player on the roster to kee o…[Read more]

It’s gonna take more than a coaching change to keep him around. He’s gonna want and deserves a significant raise for next season.
Thankfully IF they hire Jensen there will be significant funds to hopefully keep him around.
He’s gonna get some serious offers in the off season.

Help yourself to a larger dose of frustration, link below. To me, there is no excuse for his not playing more. Hell, he doesn’t even strike me as a player that has off court issues, as he seems to be the very “lunch pail” type player that works just as hard off the court as he does on it. He doesn’t seem to have a temper or a bad attitude, just…[Read more]

I’ve never understood the blind spot. I’ve relayed on this board many times how that touched my family with my son’s high school career. Coincidentally, when I saw Robbie Benson in last week’s episode of Severance, it reminded me of the movie One on One a 1977 classic basketball movie where the dickhead college coach essentially blackballs Henry…[Read more]

one of the first BB games i watched at the start of the season, I could tell Keanu Dawes was a pretty good player. after seeing his minutes per game it was pretty disturbing him sitting on the bench. Smith did use the players correctly!

I believe, at least, that they are going through the mandated candidate search, even if they already have the hero chosen. Only iif there is radio silence after the season is over,or at most The Dance is complete, then I will be concerned.

Decades of poor results, poor fan support, and poor NIL support. Lot of risk involved with taking this job.
Easy to see why Jensen would not want to take the plunge without adequate assurance of resources.
What is not easy to see is why they would fire the coach without having this settled.
