38-13 in Caleb’s last game as a collegian.
Sad part is most SC fans are jealous of fUCLA because they get to fire their head coach. They are stuck with LR in the big10!
Funny thing is USC just fired a guy that had similar results. Year one was great. After that a sharp decline. I’m not sure USC can fix their problems with coaches until the rich alumni butt out
It’s really interesting that teams like USC and Miami, blue bloods located in the best recruiting areas in the country, continually struggle even though they have great recruiting classes and have, supposedly, the best coaches money can buy.
No one is immune to a bad hire, or even a series of bad hires. The biggest fallacy in sports is that resources + history = championships. New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Alabama football.,, some of the most historically great franchises with seemingly unlimited resources have gone through extended periods of mediocrity because they bought in to the belief that all things would continue to be great for them just because they expected them to.
Plug and play GM’s/AD’s, coaches/managers, players who were individual greats but never bought into the team concept. High profile hires that are based more on Q rating than qualified experience. But the biggest mistake made over and over is recognizing that things have gotten stale, bringing in a fresh face, and then hamstringing them by insisting that they do not stray from the plan that was no longer working.
You’re absolutely right. I mean, there’s a reason why Alabama enticed Saban away from the Dolphins. No team is immune from long periods of failure. I really hope that Utah makes the right hire after Whitt leaves and that Scalley makes the cut as a HC.
