  • Not sure I agree. Following your guess I will give you mine since I was not involved in the case. I do know Whitt gives these thing a lot of thought and he has a good record of helping several turn their life around. The process lays out specifics and involves a single second chance. It is not possible to be 100% successful. I have heard that…[Read more]

  • Another way of looking at it, not saying it is right, Utah went above and beyond to help him. He just needed to help himself as well.

  • True, when I went to school students waited in line to get in and that took serious time for big games. And that was long before the Majerus years when it only got worse. Then a seat below the concourse was rarely ever available and more than half of the upper bowl was season tickets. Too many entertainment options available today make that hard…[Read more]

Thanks again for sharing. Hopefully we keep who feels like RB3 and RB4 because Curry is gone next year and possibly Bernard will test the NFL. With this years schedule spreading the load around might not only be a good idea but a necessity. We so much need a QB2 to step up but with Johnson hampered that might not get determined until August which…[Read more]

  • Also 2 seasons ago was the best reception I have ever seen by a Utah RB in the first RB. Considering who defenses put on RBs Bernard gives us the opportunity to create massive mismatches. Ludwig hunts these opportunities so I expect to see Bernard hopefully running a route with a LBer.

  • There is ‘have’ and ‘the potential to have’. Since we have had a workhorse back in the past we should be able to spot them developing so I hope you are right. Along with their skill set they develop a very high level of ball security and have a body that holds up through lots of physical hits. Yes, our RBs also need other offensive weapons to…[Read more]

  • RB do need to increase the load. I don’t think Utah will have a workhorse 30 snaps pg kind of RB. But we could still be ok. Bernard is a unique RB with a wide range of skills. He is great catching the ball even down field but also good at picking up a blitz. Jackson will be the short yardage back but also has speed. Curry is also a back I like, he…[Read more]

  • Loaded with potential. Two are incoming HS players and one is a transfer. I expect that they will grow into rolls but could look like they are learning the system in the preseason. JT, Vaughn and Marks likely get us through the first two games.

  • All are good but Monroe’s last season was an amazing one to watch with the return game mixed in. The year prior when Rodgers was primary back was the best 1,2 punch Utah has ever had.

  • The one thing we may lack is a CB that can almost consistently control the other team’s best WR, even though there are several good CBs. In the past, we have allowed Phillips and Johnson to defend very good receivers with little safety help. With the CBs still developing, I wonder if we may play a safety at nickelback as opposed to a CB at slot…[Read more]

  • If QB2 ends up being someone with a very strong are there will be some advantages. Accurate long passes have been missing from our offense. As for a duel threat QB, I think the critical skill is the ability to keep eyes downfield and throw on the run. I am anxious to see if Johnson has this skill. As for our program, hopefully we always have…[Read more]

I know we are replacing two OL starters, however, it kinda feels like one starter to me. After last year I expect that improvement with the shotgun snaps had to be a key priority. In season changes to the center position is every coaches much feared nightmare. With the depth in the OL room and the very good OL players coming in, I am going to…[Read more]

I was expecting to see more from a loaded LB group last year. But I remind myself that the Utah LBer position takes time to perfect. Look at the many great LBers Utah has had and we see so much growth with a couple of years in the program. This year we have one more year with the young LBers. The transfer LBers with experience will pick it up…[Read more]

  • I like the idea if it is a football only thing. Time it with the bye to make it easier. They could play in the afternoon and be televised live in latter time slot in the US.

  • Even better, imagine how much better we would be if Larry would have brought in Alex Jensen. Then when Larry left Alex could have taken over which could have kept several players in place. Alex would be an excellent college HC. I liked Juddy, went to school with him, but Alex is a step up. I wish Juddy could have stayed with mens to have a better…[Read more]

Yikes, I am now paying more for 1 seat than round trip air fare to Europe…

  • We needed another big man even if Carlson returns. It allows all the big men to play more aggressive allowing us more fouls to give. If Carlson does not return we need another big man. We are not limited with scholarships, we had one unfilled last year. Still room for a PG, a wing, and a PF. Transfers are fine, some of our best have been…[Read more]

  • Lute was amazing, bordering on a unicorn, and moved Az into the circle of blue bloods. As schools look to get a coach like that, success is like 4 or 5%. Of course we would like to do that or get Bennett or Few. We just need to fight past schools with more resources to get a chance.

I watched the U play Az since the 60s in the WAC. After…[Read more]

  • Some of us watch TV and can’t understand why we are not the top team in the league. TV will not reveal the brutal facts of the current reality. Understanding the resources available from inside the athletic department, how they relate to the many teams ahead of Utah in the league and the actual possibilities is not entertaining to work thru.…[Read more]

  • With the portal being what it now is, many athletes will have limited interest in being left off the 2 Deep chart for 2 years. The better teams will see players leave the bench for more opportunity on lessor teams. Lessor teams will see starters leave for an opportunity to see what they can do in higher play. That will suggest all teams lose…[Read more]
