chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Top 3 Games I want Utah to Lose (From a BYU Perspective) in the forum They So Poo Poo 1 year, 12 months ago
Great post. Interesting discussion.
The 3 games I would love to see TSPP to lose this year: Sam Houston, SUU, Arkansas. Why? Because it would be hilarious to see TSPP fans and their realization that they aren’t prepared for life in the Big12.
I think TSPP’s floor is 3 wins, ceiling is 8 wins (with the most likely result being 6).

and we can trust the NCAA to regulate it properly? I don’t think so. The teams that were cheating before will go on cheating and won’t be investigated by the NCAA. Don’t see how this changes anything unless the NCAA cleans house and hires people with integrity.

That dude is in high school? 6ft2, 225… High school running back. Jeeze Louise. I tried desperately to get up over 155 in HS and I was 6ft4. Looks like a great pick up.

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic How will the NFL's undervaluing of running backs effect CFB, and the Utes? in the forum Football 2 years ago
They will, but will the best of the best, the kids who KNOW from a relatively young age that they have a legit shot at the NFL, be persuaded to choose a different position? If the best of the best choose a different position, that means the top programs in CFB will be going after the level of running backs that we now go after.
I know, I’m over…[Read more]

There has been a lot of news lately about NFL RBs feeling shafted because they get paid less than other stars and have shorter careers. I feel like down the line this could have some impact on the Utes, I’m just not quite sure how it will impact them.
This may lead to the best athletes with RB-type bodies seeking out other positions, or other…[Read more]

chinngiskhaan replied to the topic Are our expectations for JJ unfair in the forum Football 2 years ago
The hype is justified if for no other reason than because he is expected to be RB1 for the Utah Utes. RB1 for the Utah Utes means he is expected to be a 1000+ yard rusher. There are plenty of quality options behind him, so if he wasn’t good enough to be that guy, he wouldn’t be RB1.

He definitely looks like he has more to offer than Luka Tarlac, and I don’t mean that as a slight to Tarlac. I just remember his tape when he signed on, and it wasn’t as impressive.

No Cam Rising is a bit surprising… No JJ is even more surprising though IMO. Just odd that neither of those two was even an honorable mention. I’d bet my house (if I had one) that one of those two would end up being at least honorable mention by season’s end.

I love big running backs. They are very effective in College football.

That’s fair. The AD certainly is the most boom or bust job in college sports. He deserves credit for everything good, and bad, which is why I don’t think he is in the top spot if we are talking positive effect. If you take the OP’s question at it’s literal meaning, then yes, he’s #1. If you understand it to mean positive effect, then I think the…[Read more]

Chris Hill also ruined the MBB program though. Overall what the positives outweigh the bad for sure, but IMO the bad things that he did knock him down a rung or two.

Along with (allegedly) ignoring reports of abuse by one of his coaches, Chris Hill is responsible for running MBB into the ground.

Kuzma is a great representative of the UofU. He does not get talked about enough in Utah. Poeltl and Delon have also done great in the NBA.

My experience in life has taught me that much of the time, if people are acting like jerks toward you it’s because you’ve done something to provoke it.
Is that always true? No, there are some people who are just jerks. However, most of the time, if you are respectful, people will not treat you unkindly.
At sporting events, especially at when I…[Read more]

Mine is probably the infamous 2007 UNLV game. Brian Johnson and Kyle were idols of mine at the time and I was so glad to see both of them get their chance to really shine… Then it all came crashing down in one nightmarish game… Then I went on my mission and missed the sugar bowl.
Seriously, that game was the ultimate WTF moment for me. Such a…[Read more]

Kid already has great size for college. Gotta think he could easily put on 25 pounds and be a great TE.
I love recruits like this because you just know the coaches see a ton of untapped potential there otherwise they wouldn’t be offering.

Oddly enough… The Kaneshiro doink game is my first favorite Utah game, because that is the game where I knew I was a Utah fan, and my first game at RES (even though I was a TSPP fan at the time as a little kid, I felt myself wanting the Utes to win, and I haven’t looked back since).
