Ute Thunder is correct. Offsides with contact and/or Offsides unabated to the QB, the play will be called dead.
Even on the slo-mo replay, Tafuna got there faster than the refs could pull their flags or blow their whistles. The little man was movin’

I’m with you completely. Wake up, some hair of the dog, shower and head to the tailgate. Watch game, head for a power nap and then go out for the evening.
I’ve never wanted to fill my Saturday with honey-do’s and errands trying to pass the time until a game kept me up past midnight. Sunday’s are family day. Saturday is me day

Ludwig will have a wrinkle off the wildcat for this week’s game. Maybe speed option, maybe a rollout, maybe a throwback like he did with Johnson last year.

At the same time, Utah’s 7 wins are not very impressive.
’21 USC (4-8 and had just fired their coach)
’21 Stanford (3-9)
’21 Arizona (1-11 in first year with new coach)
’22 Arizona State (3-9 and had just fired their coach)
’22 WSU (7-6)
’22 Colorado (1-11)
’23 Baylor (currently 2-4)combined record 21-60 (.259). With the exception of the ’22…[Read more]

Too small a sample to be definitive. Of those 7, there’s really only two that could be considered “bad” losses.
’21 parochial school (10-3)
’21 San Diego State (12-2)
’21 Oregon State (7-6)
’22 Florida (6-7)
’22 UCLA (9-4)
’22 Oregon (10-3)
’23 Oregon State (6-1 currently)combined record of the teams they lost to is 60-26 (.697). Not many…[Read more]

I don’t know. Most people are petty good at telling you what they think. I think the bigger problem is that very few are willing to believe them.

Did you watch the SC-Notre Dame game? Notre Dame ran what looked like exactly the same game plan Utah did in the CCG. They didn’t need to put 7 DB’s in the game any more than Utah does.
Arizona has very bad linebackers, especially in coverage. They came up with a workaround based on the strengths of their roster. Utah has great linebackers…[Read more]

The play should have been called dead the instant Tafuna made contact with the center but he got to the QB so fast, I’m not sure the whistle was blown quick enough. Definitely a penalty as Dallas and CC Ute have stated.

I think back to the 2000 NFL season when Baltimore had an incredible defense and was able to win the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer at QB. Dilfer had 12 TD’s and 11 Int’s, didn’t complete 60% of his passes. And yet Baltimore won all of their playoff games by multiple scores.
2023 Utah doesn’t need Penix, Williams, etc to win games. They just…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Question regarding Vaki in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
It’s a good question. Perhaps Vaki is just better than the 3.
Bigger issue for me is that Utah took 3 in the same class. If they can’t get on the field when there are only two other healthy backs in the room, how many of them stick around for spring ball?

When Jordan Wilmore was being recruited, I looked on 247 and they had a tape of all of his carries in one game. He broke a couple where he was untouched, but on every other carry he went down on first contact, even if it was a DB. So I was skeptical when the buzz about Wilmore was that he was going to be the next great back.
Glover’s tape made…[Read more]

RES won’t be any louder than Husky stadium was yesterday and Nix has been playing in tough environments his whole college career. The stadium gauge read over 120 decibels pretty consistently when Oregon was on offense with a high of 131 – if you can believe the gauge.
Oregon will make mistakes and it looks like both of their starting CB’s were…[Read more]

There are a lot of P5 QB’s out there and I’d say Barnes is about average. He’s actually pretty good at avoiding the rush and has done a decent job of picking up yards when the opportunity is there. He doesn’t have a classic style so he looks slower than I think he actually is. And I agree that I would like him to decide where he’s going with…[Read more]

As long as Utah’s D holds SC under 28 points, they can win. The offense has to get the job done, but that’s pretty much the threshold.
Against Oregon, the D is going to have to hold them to 17 or less.

interesting that a self-submitted set of highlights may not be the best indicator of performance at the next level.
