At least Gino got drafted. Charlie Ward never even got a flyer from an NFL team.

similar yearly rainfall but the convergence zone for Seattle starts at Arlington and goes south until you meet up with the lee from the Olympics. Same reason Forks is one of the wettest places in the country and Sequim one of the driest, even though they are within an hour by car.
Whatcom County, especially on the coast gets more extreme cold…[Read more]

The only thing predictable about Seattle weather in November is that it is going to suck.
Bad weather favors the home team since it is more familiar to them, just like altitude is more familiar to Utah.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic CFP Ranking Theory in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
Actually, it would be them to both win out, the Oregon wins the rematch in the CCG giving two 12-1 teams for the committee to consider.
Then the committee would deem that neither deserved to be in the playoff and promote 2 loss Alabama for the 4th spot. Because, Alabama

That sounds so delicious that I don’t ever want to know if it’s true or not.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Utah #18 in CFP Week 2 in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago
SOS took a big hit last week. Florida looks like a 5-7 team and Baylor could find themselves at 3-9 so OOC isn’t as strong as hoped. Currently 0-2 against ranked teams, since SC and UCLA dropped out. Beating a 2 win team at home isn’t going to move the needle as much as a 4 win team on the road does.
There is always some maneuvering to create…[Read more]

I believe SC also bought out the mortgage(s) on the two houses he had when at Oklahoma.
Talk about a school that wasn’t going to take no for an answer

At least Whitt’s wife would have snacks for us on that tour. Tony probably would just throw some vanilla extract in the oven so we thought we were getting fresh cookies 🙂

Very true. Which is why I found it strange that you didn’t include his 2020 stats in your list. You only showed his Sophomore and Junior years where he was splitting routes with Jeudy, Ruggs and Waddle.

I don’t think we are disagreeing.
I look at the staff Urban put together at Utah with only two years of HC experience. That staff has pretty much all gone on to HC positions since, with varying success, and the only coach retained from McBride’s staff was Whitt.
Continuity isn’t always a good thing when you make an HC change. You don’t need to…[Read more]

The issue wasn’t/isn’t the game film. The “scout” would train their phone camera at the people sending in signals. They would then match that up with the all-22 version(s) that are exchanged between the schools as well as the televised version(s) to decipher the play calls.
Formation you can’t do anything about. But if you can match that up…[Read more]

And yet Alabama is allowed to have 20 former head coaches acting as analysts in the Nick Saban coaching rehab program.

I think you’re missing the distinction between receiver and tight end. 3 of the 5 in the latest Ludwig era per your list were not receivers. Also, having your leading pass catcher in 2019 with only 30? woof 🙂
2019 was actually Kuithe 34, Simpkins, 32, Moss 28 and Dixon 24. The big play threat that year was Thompson who only got 18 in 12…[Read more]

No, I’m with you. I was trying to piggyback off your point, not disagree.
Right now, Oregon would be my least favourite opponent, followed by Oregon State. Washington is tough but I’m looking at it as Utah would have already beaten them once to get there. Washington’s weaknesses also match Utah’s strengths whereas the other two have both shown…[Read more]

They do it in the NFL but there are limitations. Something like 15 seconds or so left on the play clock and the radios shut-off.
To be honest, having someone talking in my ear while I was trying to call a cadence or do my own reads would drive me nuckin’ futz. There is such a thing as paralysis by analysis.

I’m more a fan of Utah losing to Oregon in the CCG than I am of them not making it at all. You can’t win it if you don’t get there in the first place.
Having the kids get the chance after everything that has gone on this season, even if it’s only 1% (it isn’t), would be a huge reward. They will have earned every bit of it. And I guarantee that…[Read more]

It’s close. I believe OSU has the slight advantage because I’m not sure Arizona can get in without the right tie-breakers and they are the only one that OSU wouldn’t have the advantage over. I’ve tried about a dozen times since Saturday to run out different scenarios and once I get down to which 1-5 team beats another 1-5 team to give potential…[Read more]
