GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic New Poll: Will there be a 2020 college football season? in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
Depends on what you mean by “modified”. I interpreted it to mean modified schedule. If you mean modified in any way whatsoever (no fans, fans with masks, fans having temperatures taken, etc.), then that is clearly the answer. In fact, you could just get rid of the “yes” option…if there’s college football, there is zero chance it will be like…[Read more]

This morning, Fauci told ESPN sports will happen if they’re played in empty stadiums. So, yes.

Interesting. When we had a losing football program 5 years ago, we didn’t have a problem filling RES. I didn’t hear anyone say they’d start going if Whit started winning more. Why is that?

Good…let them win and let them have their billboard. We deserve every bit of basketball fanbase ridicule they can throw our way.
We have nothing on them when it comes to basketball fandom. I’ve been sitting in the Hunty with several hundred other fans for years now, long enough to realize our basketball fanbase is now officially terrible. A lot…[Read more]

Things like habits, fundamentals, and work rate do translate well from high school to college. Things like size, speed, and strength do not.
So if you see good fundamentals on his high school tape, that gives me hope.

I think the decision on college football will be made by itself, in a way. The NCAA will just watch other sports leagues around the world and follow their models.
The Bundesliga (the highest level of German soccer) has reopened training camp and will resume their interrupted season in early May. They will play in empty stadiums for the rest of…[Read more]

Sports on TV will work if they have to. I’m pretty certain it’s going to be sports on TV or no sports at all.
The vaccine won’t be available until next spring and every drug studied so far has inconclusive results and serious potential side effects.

Because it’s much easier to repeatedly verify that athletes don’t have COVID (and therefore, won’t infect each other) than it is to repeatedly verify that tens of thousands of fans don’t have COVID. Chartered flights and hotel rooms make it easier to keep teams safe. So games could be played safely, but not in front of fans.

Yeah I’m saying that late start may be combined with other measures like the ones I laid out.

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic College Football Late Start Options in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
Option 4 – Everything is played as scheduled but in empty stadiums.
Option 5 – Everything is played as scheduled, but fans have to wear masks and have their temperatures taken at the gate.

My understanding is the Olympics being cancelled had to do mostly with qualifying events being cancelled and athletes being unable to train, which would’ve drastically increased the risk of injury.
I actually think the CFB season will be played. But it will be played without fans (TV only). And if there are fans, there will be extreme measures…[Read more]

Honestly can’t see football season happening unless it’s in empty stadiums. After finally getting this thing under control in early summer, the last thing our leaders will want is to start the next wave of the pandemic which will see us under another quarantine.

The sad reality is, we’re already a week ahead of Italy’s trajectory. We’ve already failed at flattening and spreading, unfortunately. The flattening and spreading is what would have cost football season.
Sadly, at this rate we will have a football season because the apex in this country will be over by mid-April. By the time September rolls…[Read more]
