You’re right Tony, I would never have imagined during the Majerus era, (or anytime in my lifetime before that), that we would ever have (what it is now 16 years since Majerus) this many years with largely mediocre basketball, falling attendance, only a few post season visits, and even fewer post season wins.
I do remember, when it was announced that Majerus would not be returning, that many people I know were not only happy, but thought that we would improve with the next hire. I remember thinking we’ll be lucky if we ever have a coach as good as Majerus again, and we’ll be even luckier if it’s one of the next 3 or 4 hires. That was based upon watching what other bigger programs were going through trying to replace great coaches.
It turns out sorrowfully, that I was more right than wrong.
That said, I did see some hope a few years ago with this staff, so I haven’t given up quite yet.
