  I recognize it was in mop-up duty, but DHC sure seemed to run with purpose and “violence” during that brief time. Loved seeing that. I hope it energizes Moss a bit. Moss is a solid back… good at everything, but he seems to lack that aggressive running style that we were spoiled with by Williams, Booker and others before them.I don’t expect flashy, I just expect hard-running with purpose.
  
  As was noted by Whit, DHC needs to improve on blocking. I sure he does so in a hurry because I want to see the run game implemented with more violence and purpose.
  
  Also, it was tough to watch TWilliams with the hands in the warmers every play during his mop-up duty. I understand why he would feel dejected, like a champion horse that has been broken, but it is nevery good to have a team captain telegraph those feelings so obviously.

  Moss often studder steps and seems to give the defense time to react to him. Often times when he’s able to make a quick read and cut and he’s off for 10 yards.

  I agree on Troy Williams. It was obvious he didn’t want to be there. I feel bad for him, but we need people out there who are excited to be there.

  I do think Moss has room to improve, but lets not forget that we’ve been very spoiled at the RB position the last several years with White IV, Booker, and Williams. They all were upper classmen when starting, and all 3 were JUCO transfers. Williams also had the benefit of an NFL-caliber line.
  
  IMO it’s not exactly fair to compare Moss, a Sophomore thrust into the starting role due to Shyne’s injury, to be as productive as White IV, Booker, or Williams. I think if he had come from a JUCO as an upperclassmen, then he might be producing how we want. IMO Moss and the O-line both just need in game experience to grow.
  
  Not directing this at you, I’ve just seen several fans across multiple sites saying Moss isn’t good and then comparing him to the last 3 we’ve had, so just wanted to jump on board and leave my thoughts on him. I think he’ll improve as he gains more experience, and be pretty good next year and the year after.

    All good points. I think Moss is doing a good job overall, and is a solid all-around back, but at this point, he seems to lack that extra intangible–I hope that comes with more time. DHC seems to have that intangible, but apparently lacks knowledge of the blocking schemes.
    
    DHC was running against a worn-out defense and had fresh legs, so that certainly accounts for some of the difference, but I think DHC showed that extra drive we have been missing in the run game this year.

  SJSU’s defense had completely quit by the time DHC got in the game, so it’s hard to really take anything from his few carries on Saturday. Sure, he hit the hole hard, but it’s easy to appear that way when defenders aren’t even putting forth an effort.
  
  That said, I certainly would like him to get a look at DHC in real game situations, as I haven’t been terribly impressed with Moss. He leaves lots of room for improvement.

  DHC’s issue is that he can’t seem to get the blocking part down. Once he learns to handle all his assignments he will see more time.

  I agree…just as I now think Huntley is a better ft than Williams in this offense, I’m starting to wonder if the quick burst guy is a better fit vs. the power back we’ve grown accustomed to. We are very rarely in power and our blocking schemes look to be very different than in the past. Coach talked about Devonte’s need to be better in pass pro but he also has to catch the ball better. He’s got some of the shortest arms I’ve ever seen and just doesn’t catch it very well. Almost looks like he “alligator arms” everything but I think it’s just how he’s built. He can flat out run it though.
  
  Tyler’s quickness stands out and because of his skill set we will compete with anyone offensively. He’s a hell of a lot more accurate than I thought he’d be in game situations too. On top of that he just has a knack for making plays. With as much as he runs though we’re probably gonna need Williams to show some maturity. Very disappointed to see his body language the other night. I get that he’s bummed…rightfully so but it’s gonna be hard to “flip the switch” when the time comes because of an injury and he has to come in and when a game for us.

  Yep, I don’t want to see that again from TWilliams. Put Bateman in or some dude that will appreciate/respect the game.
