We should recognize that we have a very diverse fanbase of various belief systems, political leanings, economic status, etc. and respect each other’s differences and most of us are good at that. But sadly a significant number of fans (not all thankfully) of a particular school act that they are superior because of their religion which makes…[Read more]

I would say that we should all be respectful of others’ beliefs; I don’t care what religion or political party. This is a sports board. I have loved and lived Utah sports for over six decades. I do not come here to get a lecture about religion or politics. There are plenty of boards for that.
This board has been typically very good.…[Read more]

I think that this is a concern. We lack depth at RB and WR on offense. But, I am most concerned by our Dline.

College football is complete mess.
The government wants to help.

UtesRules’ request is interesting. On the one hand, it would be easy to comment that UtesRule should simply avoid these conversations. This site has never seemed so entrenched in LDS religiosity that it would affect anyone’s engagement with the site to avoid discussions of that topic. Making this suggestion to UtesRule seems reasonable.
On the…[Read more]

I don’t think things are going to get much better guys. I think the NCAA as we knew it is toast. How can they possibly regulate this in a way that evens out the competitive balance? They’ve already gotten rid of the BS amateurism stuff. The courts have spoken, and players are now (justifiably) allowed to profit off of their NIL. That will never…[Read more]

Interest in college sports…Rising (for the first time in 2 years). If this has the effect I hope it has, I might actually watch more than half of the games this season.

When I was at Utah in the late 80’s, it was the same time period UNLV was putting together great basketball teams. One of their players, Greg Anthony, started a tee shirt company that was relatively successful. The NCAA, in their shortsightedness, gave him the option of giving up his company or giving up his scholarship and paying his own way to…[Read more]

Pretty much sounds like exactly what a biased and unrealistic BYU fan who doesn’t like Utah would say.
Total respect for Kalani if that’s how he handled the Retzlaff situation.
I laughed out loud when I read what the guy said about Bachmeier Under Troy Taylor, Stanford was 3-9 last year (and they were 3-9 the year before too). They were…[Read more]

Worries…
Depth at DT and DE. Need a #1 WR to step up. QB if DD goes down with an injury it will be ugly with a rotation of bad inexperienced QBs and another 6 win season at best. CB have potential but need game reps. Not worried about RB TE OL LB K/P & S. -

I think running back is going to surprise us although I certainly see your concern given how new the room is.
My #1 worry is wide receiver position group and then depth at D’Tackle

We are concerningly thin at the RB position this year. Obviously, I have high hopes for Parker, but he will be given a much more significant workload here in SLC than he had in Pullman. Outside of him, we really do not have a very experienced RB room. NaQuari Rogers is seemingly the next guy up, but I am not that high on him. He only had 352…[Read more]

I’m not LDS and grew up in Salt Lake and attended the U. Here’s my 2 cents. As an outsider looking in the LDS faith is very strange. The kids growing up that looked down on me for not being LDS were more likely BYU fans (not all). The LDS kids that didn’t care were more likely Utah fans. I have many close LDS friends that I still play golf and h…[Read more]

I totally prefer to keep religion out of our discussions. Unfortunately, we are in a conference with byu and with them as part of the equation sometimes sports and religion are mixed together.

If BYU has another successful season they will try and lock him up more long term. Hill has made a huge difference since his arrival. Kalani will struggle without him. If BYU struggles this year and Whitt retires it might open the door to get him back. It depends on where his heart is at. A few extra $$$ might help solve the heart issue.
