The Miami Ute started the topic 7-5 is what I have the Utes at this season in the forum Football 10 hours, 25 minutes ago
I don’t know which teams they’ll beat or lose to, but, based on what I’ve seen during the last two seasons, that’s my gut feeling. I can’t speak for anyone else but myself, but the poor way that the QB situation (and the offense in general) was handled during the 23-24 and 24-25 season has made me lose a lot of confidence in this coaching staff,…[Read more]

If you read the article, the university specifically said that’s not going to happen. They’re not going to waste time and resources on eliminating something that’s already present in the collective consciousness of fans and students. All current Block Us are probably here to stay. They’re just not going to create more of them.

So, they better take some back hoes and jack hammers up to the block U up on the mountain side to incorporate some interlocking U’s, which I don’t like at all, looks to sophomoric, a University of Houston interlock U and H knockoff.

I also assume the D&F will likely remain on the primary helmets (tho it does feel like the school is transitioning away from it more and more each year as it was only worn like half the games in 2024 as three other games had the interlocking Us + that special helmet for the ISU game) so this is more an academic transition more than anything, and…[Read more]

I don’t hate your list, but mine would be pretty different.
-I’m no expert on Baylor or TCU, but they are both billed as offensive juggernauts. However, our defense handled both of them well.
-Call me a homer, but I think we’ll be very good. We have a big stretch with no travel that will be great for player health.
-I would rather byu be overe…[Read more] -

Nice breakdown ALUF. I was ready to mortgage my house last year to attend the CFP games. Reality was a wake up call. I think we have reversed roles with BYU. They used the disrespect and lack of success in 2023 as motivation. Now we have the same motivation they had last year. BYU has the target on their backs now. Whittingham loves the underdog…[Read more]

Wow – terrific breakdown ALUF,
I think Baylor gets us and one of BYU or Kansas. If healthy, this team can be 10-2 and in the title game with 9-3 a possibility. If injuries mount again I don’t see 5-7 as the basement. I think Beck’s offense is creative enough but without too much complexity that we’ll be all right offensively regardless of injury.…[Read more]

I think Utah gets back into a respectable postseason game again (e.g., the Alamo, Texas, Pop-Tarts, Liberty, or Sun bowls), but we’ll be seeing Baylor and Iowa St in the title game.
GO UTES!!!

I’m confused as to where they caved to political correctness on this lmao
Sounds like a perfectly reasonable change for the academic side of the University.
Plus, the Interlocking Us are way better than the generic Block U.

They will try to do something but then a State will pass a law prohibiting any regulation or a player will sue and the same thing will happen. The NCAA needs antitrust protection from Congress.

Well, I will tell you this…the University of Miami didn’t have a basketball team between 1971-1985 and, until the late 70s, were an absolute also-ran in football. I mean, I remember seeing them lose to Florida A&M (a then Division 2 team) in Tallahassee in 1979. They were mediocre at best and usually bad…so bad, that the university…[Read more]

Per Fox News, Utah has officially selected the Interlocking UU’s as a logo, to replace the designation of “The U”.
This ‘to differentiate and distinguish ourselves’ from other institutions, such as the University of Miami.Obviously, and sadly, UU has not copyrighted the term “The U”, but historically, they are the originals using the term since…[Read more]

I think it’s interesting to consider how both sides have responded. Tanuvasa keeps bringing it up and seems to feel the urge to continue justifying what he did (even by taking subtle digs at the U, which is disappointing). I think it just shows some insecurity and immaturity on his part. On the flip side, Whittingham just says they’ve moved on…[Read more]

I also agree generally that religion isn’t for a sports board. But the reality is that it IS for this one. Religion is a fundamental part of the rivalry and culture locally. Even though the subject should be kept civil and to a minimum, eliminating it entirely would be an overstep based on the plain realities of the situation.

Not sure why it’s so hard for some of these entitled players to keep their mouth shut. Maybe he’s getting NIL to poke the rivalry bear. Between his coaches and family, you would think he’d get have some guidance to be humble and STFU on the topic. Made the decision and moved on to a new scene.

Agreed. I am already sort of checked out. It’s just not as enjoyable as it used to be. If there’s a P2 without us being involved, I’ll spend my time doing other things.

There are people like you and there are people like me in the college football environment. I watch college sports because I have an emotional tie to a couple of schools by virtue of my attendance in those schools.
If either, or both, of those schools are relegated to also ran status or drop sports altogether, then I’m not going to transfer my…[Read more]

I have a lot of friends who found their purpose after serving a mission, I knew It wasnt for me at 12. Sneaking books in my armpit and reading them in the bathroom during sacrament.

Exactly my point Hoban. Some see it as weird and abnormal. Others see it as normal based on your religion. Neither right or wrong.
