Maybe if they stopped changingadding different apps every year and just worked on getting the current ones working.

  • After the last two football seasons, you could make the case that things are trending in that direction as well.

I just read an article in “The Athletic” where the author, a guy called Jim Root, did a thought experiment and completely realigned all 364 MBB teams in new conferences. (If you have The Athletic, you can find the article here: What…[Read more]

  • In my opinion the Utes have a 50% chance of going 7-5, 20% of 8-4, 10% of 9-3 and 10% of less than 7-5. My main concern is defensive tackle. The Utes struggled more than normal against the run a year ago and right now they do not have the 4 guys they will need to fill those spots. Some guys who have not seen the field will need to show out.

  • My expectations are lower because Utah is coming off a 5-7 season where they won all of two Big 12 games. The O/U on Utah is about 7.5 wins, right? I think that’s likely where they’ll fall – either 7 or 8 wins. So, Utah going 8-5 and grabbing a win down in Provo would be a successful season in my book because it met the overall expectations.…[Read more]

  • Utah can have a successful season without making the championship game but we also don’t have to set our sights so low as to hope for 6-6 with a win over BYU.

For me, 9 wins or more will be a successful season.

  • I think putting success at making the Big 12 championship as the minimum is setting yourself up for critical disappointment.

To me, success is beating BYU and yes, getting back to a bowl game, even if it’s a scrappy one. I don’t know why anyone would set success at such a high ceiling knowing how bad Utah was last year.

  • Have an offense.

Have a team that appears to be in contention for the playoffs (Tennessee is coming off a playoff appearance, Utah is coming off a losing season)…if Utah is going to make up for these gaps, they’re not gonna do it by just matching Tennessee in the NIL. They’ll have to overpay … maybe by a decent amount and I don’t think Utah…[Read more]

  • There’s always exceptions to the rule, my friend. I never claimed you’re doomed if you play in the Big 12. But also, I’m not even coming close to predicting a Heisman for Moa.

But being in the Big 12 is a disadvantage. If it wasn’t, 18 of the top 20 players according to 247 Sports wouldn’t be committed to (or favored to commit to) SEC or Big 10…[Read more]

  • Not knowing your situation in life maybe this doesn’t apply to you but if another job comes along for me that is willing to pay 6 figure or 7 figures more than the one I have it is probably going to mean I move.

  • It isn’t that I disagree with many on this board who criticize Whitt’s decision making; but it can’t be emphasized enough that he went all in on a healthy Rising for 2024. I think how he handled 2023 deserves some scrutiny but if Rising is healthy in 2024 the U contends for the the league championship just as projected. I also think he and Ludwig…[Read more]

  • And even then we have to remember that these guys haven’t even started their senior year yet! Lots can and will change by the time they graduate.

  • Keep spreading lies. It’s a shame a Utah fan would take such glee in making things up to tear down a Utah player who delivered two of the best seasons in Utah football history.

Anyone who claims Rising was a locker room problem is either woefully misinformed or just making shit up. And that’s a fact.

  • Every single insider felt confident in his selecting Utah. From Alex to the 247 guys. The coaches were confident he would pick Utah. Enough for me to believe that he either had a last second change of heart or… well I’m not gonna throw out the other option.

  • Utah set up a very comparable NIL offer as Tennessee but that’s the problem at this point: you’re going to have to overspend to have a shot vs the P2 and Utah does not have the resources to overspend on these players. It’s a big reason they lost a few this off-season.

It’s also why NIL might be problematic for Utah going forward. Look at Texas…[Read more]

  • 2025 is a critical year. As covered in other posts, Utah has not been the same since the last RB loss.

What is considered a successful season? IMO, playing in the B12 Championship is the minimum. 8 to 7 wins and a crappy bowl game is not getting it done.

  • “Just win, baby.” There’s some obstacles currently facing the Utah football program. NIL, being in the Big12 etc. But a lot of that can be greatly reduced by simply winning. It’s why 2025 is massive. A terrific season will steer us back on course. We absolutely cannot afford another stinker season. Thankfully I’m optimistic it’ll be a great year. Go Utes!

  • CentralCoastUte, I agree with you. I also think Whitt’s “game time decision” approach seriously backfired on him trying to keep injuries under wrap and significantly hurt the team’s psyche. IMO, that strategy didn’t work and teams didn’t have to prepare for Utah’s game plan all that much knowing Utah would have a rookie QB which = inept…[Read more]

  • First off, I know many of you are down about missing on Salesi. However, not even three months ago, the thought of landing one of either the Pula twins, Salesi, or Obot would be a HUGE win for the program. Utah ended up landing everyone but Salesi.

Having said that, ON3 gave Oregon an 88% chance of landing Kelvin Obot, three different recruiting…[Read more]

  • I understand from a good source that Utah was going to be his choice until the late push by Tennessee in the last 48 hours. They were on the phone with him for hours the night before he announced his decision. They told him he could play both ways, and because he would be in the SEC he would get tons of attention.

    I don’t think it was because…[Read more]

  • Utah had a big turnover since Rose bowl 1 and 2. Lots of new faces. Rising won the team over with his competitive spirit and QB play. For two years he did basically nothing to help the team win games and left them in a bind financially and depth wise at QB. Anytime you under achieve the QB is going to take blame. I don’t think all the chatter in t…[Read more]
