It’s worth remembering that Urban, who is hands down the best strategic coach that has ever coached the program, made most of his starters play special teams. Your best players are your best players. You could make the argument that a program like Utah doesn’t have the depth to lose anybody, so it’s advisable to play our best players spari…[Read more]

An article published on utahutes.com and not sent via snail mail, e-mail, or carrier pigeon to season ticket holders is as good as useless…

I voted 6-6 as I expect to see some uneven play with so many new on both sides of the ball and hope to be pleasantly surprised if they do better.

Mine have yet to show up.

This does not have to be gimmicky. Someone will be receiving punts- if Snowden can make a difference in this role, great.
If Lander lines up at TE and makes some plays doing tight end things, great.
I agree that I don’t want to see our offense look like a predictable gimmick but it does not have to be that way at all.
Try being positive my friend.

If they are going to contribute more than 1 or 2 big plays this season, they will need to do what Vaki and Weddle did, which is contribute in more ways than 1. With Vaki there were a few different runs he could pull off, and he was a home run threat in the passing game as well. He was a legitimate running back. With Weddle, he could throw, run,…[Read more]

Returning kicks is not the same thing as playing on offense. Obviously, whoever is returning kicks, everyone knows who is going to return the kick unless there are onside kicks or other shenanigans ensue.

Whatever helps us win I’m in favor of.
Vaki was awesome playing 2 ways a couple of years ago. As was Eric Weddle.
Back in the 80s I wonder if we should have used one of my favorite Utes, Errol Tucker, occasionally on offense. He was so electric with the ball in his hands.

The very fact that we are discussing crap like this is one reason why I hate being in the same conference as those tools. That can sometimes filter down to the conference because we are stuck here right now. Ask yourself this, if BYU was NOT in the Big 12, would you have a different feeling toward the Big 12? I know I sure would. It is not the…[Read more]

Lander was an excellent TE in high school. Not sure I like the idea but I get it.

Gimmick players are not a good thing IMO. When they come in, everyone knows what is about to happen. If they are going to play both ways all the time, and they are capable of it, fine. It doesn’t even have to be close to every snap, just enough so that it isn’t obvious what we are about to do when they come on the field. That was one of Ludwig’s…[Read more]

It’s because apparently they’ve only told the season ticket holders who are on a payment plan? If you were on a payment plan, they texted you if you didn’t update your info you’d lose your tickets I guess.
If you look for the emails about buying single game tickets from like July 7th, it tells you to create your paciolan account. The AD really…[Read more]

In case you didn’t know, season tickets were moved to Paciolan / Seatgeek instead of ticketmaster. Looking at my email history, I didn’t receive any notification of this EXCEPT a tutorial buried at the end of an email about buying single game tickets via my CC level.
Just FYI. Also, apparently we’ll need to use the Utah360 app instead of the…[Read more]

The pumping in crowd noise claim is one of the million reasons I can’t stand being in the same conference as those idiots. Everything they do or say seems so childish.

The pumping crowd noise claim. Sigh.
This is one reason why it is so frustrating being a Ute fan. We have to deal with this childish nonsense from byu fans. And the worst part is that this stupid claim by byu fans will probably never die. 10 years from now another byu fan somewhere will bring it up. And lots of byu fans will cheer it on: “Utah…[Read more]

They mic the band simply so they can be heard over the crowd.
But no need to mic the crowd. We make enough sound on our own.
Thinking of the TCU game in 2008 and the announcer said “this is a well build stadium, the press box is shaking”
