JUCO Tight End from San Diego. A 3-star, but had an offer from Oklahoma. Ranked as the 4th overall JUCO prospect in the class of 2026. Good get. Hope he’s great.

I’m saying Whitt had very high expectations for Utah entering 2024 and it was a big reason he even came back after the 2022 season (everything was predicated on a healthy Cam).
Whitt fully bought into the idea that Utah was the favorite to win the Big 12 last year and make the playoffs. Had they done that, he was set to hang it up.

Are you suggesting that our head coach had no more information that would suggest our team was a disaster than the average sports pundit?

I don’t think it was stupid at all. Utah was the near-consensus last year to win the Big 12. I think that’s exactly what he expected was the likely outcome of the season.

“He fully expected to win the Big 12 and go the playoffs”
I don’t think he’s that stupid.

I don’t think so. Whitt isn’t likely to settle going out with a pretty average team, especially with 2026 being a solid-expected team.
Unless Utah major surprises and wins the Big 12, I think Whitt will see it through 2026. Just hard imagining him retiring on a 8-5 or 7-6 note and that’s likely what Utah is looking at this year.

I think this is the last year for Coach Whit as HC but believe he will stay on staff in a “CEO” type role for 3-5yrs.

I kinda view the mountain states as one big related geography, even though there are sub regions within. Usually when im chatting with my Euro colleagues, I say the mountain states in the western US or something.

Assuming you mean this recruiting class? I do think Whitt is close to retirement regardless how things go. In fact, I suspect he was going to ride off into the sunset before things went south last year. He fully expected to win the Big 12 and go the playoffs, a nice swan song into retirement.
But last year’s putrid result forced a change. He…[Read more]

You’ve already been outed as a zoob. There’s nowhere to go here anymore. All you’re doing now is embarrassing ybu-p, by proving just how “imaginary” your self-proclaimed “higher standards” really are.

I think that would be the perspective if you had been following local college football for only a few years. A longer perspective would note that it has been since the 80s that the Y has dominated Utah offensively. Only the last two years has the Utah offense been unproductive and that was due to Rising’s injury and the inability to field an…[Read more]

There are several geographic regions in the US which overlap.
Rust belt, Midwest, Deep South, plains, Pacific Northwest, etc.
When I lived in Virginia I told someone I was from the intermountain west and they said I made it up. Anyone else have a more localized region many may not be aware of?
I was thinking about this because I am biased to…[Read more]

PAC 12 conference games trumped non-conference. I am more excited about the UCLA and WYO game than conference games. I’ll probably go to the WYO game.
Not my conference.

I’d love their commitment and they should be super easy to get considering they grew up big Utah fans. But honestly I expect them to go to BYU. Why in the world would they come to our program right now? We are moving in the wrong direction, and not to mention our pass game is always terrible. I’m sure they want to actually win and have fun in col…[Read more]
