2008 National Champ replied to the topic Hypothetical: Who's your pick for Utah HC (assuming KW leaves)? in the forum Football 6 months, 3 weeks ago
google Jimmy Lake and tell me the comparison isn’t apt other than Scalley hasn’t gotten the HC slot yet.
career spent on one side of the ball? check
moved from DB coach to DC to HC? almost there
considered a great recruiter and motivator? check
spent the bulk, if not all of his career under one of the top coaches? check
has his own ideas about…[Read more] -
2008 National Champ replied to the topic What do we know about UCF? in the forum Football 6 months, 3 weeks ago
UCF is going to run all day and if they can get Scalley to abandon the middle like he’s been doing lately, they’ll break a couple of big runs. It could get 2021 Utah v Stanford bad where the Utes piled up 400 yards on the ground.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Whitt’s Decision in the forum Football 6 months, 3 weeks ago
Sal: to me the calculus is different. The Tennessee job, or the SC job he was offered after 2008, would have required moving his family and going to a place where the expectations are always going to be oversized. Not many coaches get the choice of staying home which was always Utah’s best selling point for Whitt.
Retiring early, on the other…[Read more]

Assuming we’re speaking only about football, the only thing that really must go is the Bhutan death march that occurs on the concourse behind the NEZ after every game. Who’s the genius who designed in a choke point?

What I’d love to see is Urban Meyer as head Coach, Scalley as DC and Brian Johnson as OC. Let them learn under Meyer for a year and then promote Scalley.

You’re right. Nate Johnson was injured so that does make 5th string two years in a row.

Not accepting turnover risk while developing quarterbacks. Please, let them play and don’t crush their confidence if they throw an interception. Let them throw themselves out of their funks.
Slow developing offensive plays. We need to develop more quick 3 step passes. When defenses are getting to the qb too often.
Playing not to lose. I hate…[Read more]

Nate may have been injured at some point last season, but if I recall correctly Bottari started due to Barnes being injured and Nate Johnson had left the program for the portal at that point. Hope he’s getting playing time wherever he is.

The probability of using a 5th string QB in a season is small. The likelihood of using a 5th string QB in consecutive seasons is small multiplied by small (I guess?).
For example, if the probability is one percent that a 5th string QB is used in a season (I have no idea if that one percent is correct or not), then the probability is 1 in 10,000…[Read more]

Perhaps the injuries come from running qbs to hard. We need an offense that works better with them.

A typical team will experience 3 season ending injuries each year. We have more than that at QB alone.
I mentioned this a few weeks ago, that accelerated muscle development can create increased torque that tendons are unprepared to support. The same holds true for quick weight gain. A staple of a KW team has been shifting players into…[Read more]

That’s the point of this and things that must go. Vent and then let it go.

Wasn’t Nate Johnson injured as well? That would’ve made Bottari 5th String against CU last year.

The three maybe four (Wilson tbd?) QB injuries needing surgery in the same season has to be a record. Never seen anything like it. Expect to see Huard, Wilson, and Rose head to the transfer portal on 12/9 or soon after.

I’d really like to know why Utah has so many injuries lately, especially quarterbacks.
Some like to blame the turf, but many teams play on turf. Some like to blame Under Armor, but there are other teams that use Under Armor.
Having seen some of the injuries on video, there doesn’t really seem to be anything unusual. Cam Risings latest injury…[Read more]

I recall TDS playing a 4th string QB in a bowl game in 1992.

Scalley and Jay Hill as DC would be my realistic and most ideal.
OC no way in hell do I want Dan Mullen. I am game for whatever. 2025 will probably be an improvement over this disaster offense.
