None of the qbs changed positions nor put on a lot of weight (like to be a LB or TE). But this could be true of some of the other position players. That comes back to strength and conditioning (and flexibility). Cue TB12 Tom Brady …

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Is this how it went down in the preseason with Isaac Wilson in the forum Football 8 months ago
so the answer is to ask nicely if the other team will pretty please promise not to pressure him?
There was no pressure on the first pick against Oklahoma State. Instead he chose to throw in to double coverage on the wheel route without ever looking to the other side where Money had broken ankles and was running free for an easy…[Read more]

Agree. He’s raised his stock and might actually be draftable or UDFA.

I agree with you. His decision making is turtle slow right now but he showed flashes of a high ceiling. Rose should have been QB2 to let Wilson develop more. Hopefully he stays and grows in the offseason

A team starting its 5th string QB due to injury is rare. A team doing it for the second year in a row never happens.
It’s unprecedented I’ve never seen it ever

might be the least popular opinion on this site, but i think wilson has alot of potential and has shown them. all his mistakes are all mistakes a true freshman qb would have had. I was at the colorado/utah game and noticed, when wilson isn’t being rushed, he can make really good plays, its only when hes being pressured & running is when his throws…[Read more]

UCF’s Freshman QB is good. Well balanced offense. Utah’s defense has softened up since the BYU game giving up 80 points in the last two games. I expect the same on Friday when UCF gets an early lead. Weather should be nice and warm for a boat race :). Rewatched the ISU game for pure viewing punishment. Defense looks completely checked out. ISU QB…[Read more]

1st P4 job now available. Will that start the coaching carousel? So far, only mid-level G5’s have opened up.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Hypothetical: Who's your pick for Utah HC (assuming KW leaves)? in the forum Football 8 months ago
Scalley could go anywhere from 0-12 to 12-0 and it wouldn’t surprise me. Lake is just one possible outcome. I’m sure if I, or someone else, wanted to research it we’d find more success stories than failures but it would be close to fitty-fitty.
There’s no guarantees in life and Scalley’s HC performance is yet to be written. I do think though…[Read more]

I pick Nick Saban. Before you laugh, its just as realistic an option as anyone else not named Morgan Scalley.

google Jimmy Lake and tell me the comparison isn’t apt other than Scalley hasn’t gotten the HC slot yet.
career spent on one side of the ball? check
moved from DB coach to DC to HC? almost there
considered a great recruiter and motivator? check
spent the bulk, if not all of his career under one of the top coaches? check
has his own ideas about…[Read more] -

UCF is going to run all day and if they can get Scalley to abandon the middle like he’s been doing lately, they’ll break a couple of big runs. It could get 2021 Utah v Stanford bad where the Utes piled up 400 yards on the ground.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Whitt’s Decision in the forum Football 8 months ago
Sal: to me the calculus is different. The Tennessee job, or the SC job he was offered after 2008, would have required moving his family and going to a place where the expectations are always going to be oversized. Not many coaches get the choice of staying home which was always Utah’s best selling point for Whitt.
Retiring early, on the other…[Read more]

Assuming we’re speaking only about football, the only thing that really must go is the Bhutan death march that occurs on the concourse behind the NEZ after every game. Who’s the genius who designed in a choke point?

What I’d love to see is Urban Meyer as head Coach, Scalley as DC and Brian Johnson as OC. Let them learn under Meyer for a year and then promote Scalley.

You’re right. Nate Johnson was injured so that does make 5th string two years in a row.

Not accepting turnover risk while developing quarterbacks. Please, let them play and don’t crush their confidence if they throw an interception. Let them throw themselves out of their funks.
Slow developing offensive plays. We need to develop more quick 3 step passes. When defenses are getting to the qb too often.
Playing not to lose. I hate…[Read more]

Nate may have been injured at some point last season, but if I recall correctly Bottari started due to Barnes being injured and Nate Johnson had left the program for the portal at that point. Hope he’s getting playing time wherever he is.
