The speculation on Lander’s injury was Lisfranc. I don’t know if it was ever confirmed but for the sake of argument, I’ll assume that is true. Those little bones in your feet are so important to your mobility, speed and leg strength. I just don’t know how you get that back.
Maybe it’s an injury that will get better as time elapses? I guess…[Read more]

So you then call for the directors head, the actors head or the theater owners head? Of course not. But here you are after 20 years of solid entertainment calling for Whit’s head. #entitled

I really don’t understand Ute fans. This is literally our first bad year in how long? Last year wasn’t great, but considering the injuries, it wasn’t bad either.
If we look bad again next year, I agree, Whit should go.
BYU fans forced Lavell out after a few average years and their program took 20 years to recover. Yet here we are doing to…[Read more]

Ludwig and others have all disputed the claim that he interferes with the O. I don’t know why this won’t die. Do you really think he would pressure the OC out if he was in fact pushing the play calling on him?

It’s not hindsight. A few of us were very clear that bringing Rising back for 2023 would cause people already in the room to transfer. Which is exactly what happened. Johnson, Barnes & Howard are now gone leaving a 6 year gap in experience between Rising and Wilson. Costelli left, Jackson was moved to running back, Rose apparently isn’t…[Read more]

That’s a very good point.

My experience is that if you are training right, the bulk adds speed and athleticism. I can’t imagine they aren’t being trained right.
If I had to guess, a foot injury probably cost him his entire off season of lower body training. On top of that, he probably continued his upper body training. (Not being able to train lower body could give rise…[Read more]

Sports are our gladiators. Our proxy for war pitting champions against champions.
I don’t boo much, but when I do, I do it loudly.

Well, I guess I see that I am in the minority on this topic around here. Fair enough.
If you booed someone pretty much anywhere else in life, you would look pretty dumb. I guess society has decided it is okay in sports (or generally, events with large crowds). I suppose it must be due to our inability to convey more complex communication as a…[Read more]

I don’t have the expertise to answer your question, Tony. I will say that somebody brought up a very interesting point. Why is Lander seemingly less explosive athletically? Why does it seem he’s a step slower? Is it because the injury? Or could it be they bulked him up too much? I really wonder on this. Are we changing players bodies so…[Read more]

By that logic Jack Nicklaus should still be playing in PGA events, Michael Jordan should still be in the NBA and someone should stick Ted Williams’s head onto a body

How to call an offense at Utah:
Step 1) Choose one of the following:
A) Run up the middle
B) Throw a pass into coverage near the sideline
C) Run a trick play that tricks nobodyStep 2) Repeat step 1 until punt or score
Obviously reductive, but I think we can see why TCU (and everyone watching) pretty much knew what Utah was doing.

6th, he is 3 games behind Gundy.
Never going to catch Ferrentz or Brown, he would go up on the active list if those two retire.

I am sorry for the lack of clarity in context. My head drifted to the binary choice of giving up on Whitt to start over or continuing with Whitt and hope for the best. Continuing on and hoping for the best can and should include doing everything possible to win. In this context, sticking with Whitt has actually led to championships and I think…[Read more]

There was one play in the TCU game Kuithe came out of his stance and just stood there on a run play. Never seen that before with a Utah player.

Not preparing a QB is how I see it. But by not preparing a QB you don’t have one. Riding the Rising train too long (20+ months too long) also has been a huge drag.

I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing some two back sets, put Parks, Kuithe, Vincent, Stanley back there and run some plays. Bernard blocks for Stanley to run the wheel route, Stanley/Kuithe/Parks motions out for a pass in the flats/Bernard blocks, or Bernard gets less run blitz. Anything to have options instead of formation A means a run up the middle,…[Read more]

I disagree with this at many levels.
First, the majority of championship teams are among the most physical in college football. For example, Michaigan, Georgia, and Alabama are among the most physical teams I can remember over the past couple of years. I think lack of physicality is one of the reasons why PAC12 teams (ORE) didn’t win the…[Read more]

I do boo refs but have often thought I need to quit. Years ago my wife was the referee coordinator for Sandy Youth Soccer. She would hire what seemed to be a hundred middle school and HS kids each year after they took a test for rules. $5 per game. However, every week 8 or 10 quit and the reason was always the same, could not take bitching from…[Read more]
