Maybe 1000 there. 6PM tough time to get there on a work night for some. (Fortunately I have very easy going managers who will let me shift my hours and hour or two for events and appointments).

I watched it live on You Tube and it didn’t look like there were a lot of people in attendance. I would like to have seen several thousand people show up but that probably isn’t realistic given the state of the program. Did any of you go to the Huntsman? I am really hoping that Alex gets good fan support and builds a strong staff.

Thanked family, and his mentor Rick Majerus and all the people who supported him when he played at Utah.
He respects the current team and coach.
Appreciates the vision of Pres Randall and Mark Harlan.
Wishes he had more time to visit with each player.
Excited to get a hard playing team and want to come here.
It feels right(mow) to come back…[Read more]

Yeah, it sounds as if Smith was either very stubborn in his ways or he had some paranoia that former fan favorites would upstage him. Not sure what it is, but if you get offered that kind of help for free and don’t take it…. I don’t know what your thought process is.

If this in indeed true…
Of all the questionable decisions Smith made or was rumored to make, this would be by far the worst. You have a university legend of an ex-player, all-American, longtime NBA player, experienced pro coach who calls you and wants to work on your staff as a VOLUNTEER…and you say no!?
If you make decisions that bad, stay…[Read more]

This is correct. He offered to be on Craig’s staff for free but Smith said no thanks.

I’m sure you thought that was quite the zinger, however Smith’s son was not the GM. He is an administrative admin.

Several reports indicated Andre tried to join Craig Smith’s staff last year, but Smith ultimately declined. Sounds very much to me like Andre has the interest.

What? You mean he doesn’t have a son that would make a good GM? 🙂

Andre has a net worth of about 50 million I don’t think money is a concern.
He loves to Coach and he wants to do it at Utah.
He’s living his best life.

I don’t think Alex would take the job if the NIL wasn’t competitive

What’s his salary at the G-League level?

Alex is hiring a staff with mostly NBA experience. The new NIL will make Utah very competitive in recruiting.
Top 100 recruits care about two things. The NBA and money. Utah will have both of those.
He’s hiring an Utah Bball GM from an NBA front office.
College is less and less about college anymore. These programs are being run like mini n…[Read more]

I believe this one is owned by FOX. Made for TV tournament in Vegas.

Who is Alex Jensen trying to hire for his staff? We need some serious recruiters to overcome our NIL deficits. I know we got an increase, but it appears like we are very much behind in either the money we can offer or just marginal recruiting. Anyone hear any news out there about potential coaching staff hires other than Andre Miller?

Left out of the NCAA’s from those conferences. the ACC and SEC decided to not participate, so their top 2 NET teams left out of the NCAA’s go to the NIT, contractually.
-
Minnesota Ute replied to the topic College Basketball Crown Tournament? in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Is that the correct pecking order, or is the NIT still second behind the NCAA? Sounds like it could be a better field than the NIT if it high grades teams with a high NET that didn’t make the NCAA. Or when you say “left out” do you mean of both the NCAA and NIT?

NarfUte replied to the topic College Basketball Crown Tournament? in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 month, 2 weeks ago
It’s ANOTHER post season tournament, trying to slot in between the NCAA’s and the NIT driven by FOX. It takes the top 2 left out from the Big East, Big Ten, and Big 12 – plus 10 at larges. Because of it, the NIT got rid of the auto bids for those leagues.
So, we have the NCAA’s, CBC, NIT, and the CBI.
