Am I wrong? I have yet to see any justification other than bluster for why I’m wrong. I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted other than people just not liking to face reality. So far we have one guy who scored 20-ish a game playing for a tiny school, a guy who started half his games at mighty SLCC, a guy who was in and out of the rotation for us…[Read more]

Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ve been following this story, and it’s become kind of a tipping point for me. Agents, holdouts, threats to move on, big time college football has become completely professional without the guardrails that make all of the pro leagues stable, going concerns. So Nico Iamaleava initially signed a multi-year NIL agreement with…[Read more]

Happy spring, gentleman! With our not so favorite event: the spring portal opening next Thursday, any thoughts on where we might look to add and if we might lose anyone of significance? I know after last winter portal ANYTHING is possible but I’d be surprised if any major contributors leave. This team has already has so much juice and positive e…[Read more]

Does anyone know where you’d be able to find concrete data on NIL spending? There seems to be a distinct difference in payouts, with BYU opting to pay large sums for individual players, and Utah going for more of a moneyball approach. Ryan Smith rightfully gets sh*t for nosediving the Jazz until ~2035, but we may be singing a different tune on the…[Read more]

yup but i think there’s more than half of the Big12 that will turn a blind eye to any NIL evil TDS does because they like having the TDS in the Big12. the other half will circle the date and hope to destroy TDS at the home or away game to send a message you can’t buy victories no matter how much money you have, and…this is payback biotch!!!

I’m sorry I forgot. Remind me which nba team you are the GM of???
I’ll tell you the first thing Alex is doing is getting guys that can compete athletically in the big12.
Alex knows you only need three to four really good basketball players to compete a high level. The rest of the team needs to be hustle guys, grinders, glue guys, scrapers. Guy…[Read more]

I have posted before that the Jazz must do something next season or they will lose their fanbase. They have been tanking for three years now. This off-season, they must make some significant changes or the fans will no longer show up. This has gone on way too long. They have already lost me. I have not watched a minute of Jazz basketball in…[Read more]

I find it hilarious that the Jazz are an absolute dumpster fire while Ryan Smith is investing all them millions in TSPP basketball.
Sports in general unless it is my kids I just don’t care about much anymore. It really didn’t take me long either. I am glad that some kids are getting compensated for being talented and honing their talent. It is lame now.

Seems like a decent player with some room to grow. We now have 4 guys. Dawes, Okonkwo, Jackson, and Brown. Seems like a decent MWC team so far. We better get a headliner or we are really going to struggle next year. That is, unless one of these guys suddenly blossoms into a star.

Would have been nice to have him another season, but the odds weren’t likely. Good luck in the league.

I really wanted to watch him and Dampier ball out. It’s a shame his waiver wasn’t approved!
I also wish him the best of luck in the future. -

NBA has a salary cap, and a draft, so even if he wanted to outbid everyone for the Jazz to get the best roster, he wouldn’t be able to.
NIL has no cap. So those willing to pay the most (e.g. Ryan Smith) will get the best players.

People are going to downvote me because they don’t like the Jazz, and this is a tangent post, but I think this is an ignorant post. It is one that someone would say if you didn’t follow.

his #1 investment is in his alma mater using his wealth, and I believe im sure in some small measure, some Jazz revenue pouring it all into BYU’s athletic programs. something tells me this Ryan Smith-BYU partnership didn’t just suddenly happen or evolve overnight after they joined the Big12, i think this was a plan in the making long before BYU…[Read more]

I agree, I posted elsewhere about another team I follow where they are replacing all their starters this year and its not the first year for that. College sports once had the attraction of following promising student athletes through their college years, and there was continuity with just a fraction of the starters graduating or, occasionally…[Read more]
