It ain’t going to happen, but just for fun:

Scalley will be the head coach at some point, and I am perfectly fine with that.

Offensive coordinator – Brian Johnso (I get that this is not likely, but Brian has a great football mind and lots of experience. He does like Utah and has some local ties. It’s a long shot.

    Receiver’s coach – Steve…[Read more]

  • It matters especially because of the optics of it. We are down right now and the vibe around the program says that as well. If we can finish the other half of the season strong, it will go a long way in keeping recruits and guys from transferring. And it will be appealing to future recruiting and transfers. So yeah us losing a 4☆ LT 6 games into t…[Read more]

  • It is an affectation. Sort of like a soul patch.

  • Is that Whittingham?

  • The only people I knew that wore their hats backward were catchers. 🙂

  • Middle aged Utah white guy thing? Do you really think that only middle aged white guys in Utah wear their hats backward? Seriously? Have you ever looked around you when outside Utah? It is a common practice among people of all skin colors, of all ages, in all geographic areas. Does everyone do it? No. But it is hardly some cultural practice unique…[Read more]

  • Very much so. It is their way of trying to be “hip” and “urban” without actually living in a such an environment.

  • As a Gamecock fan and grad I can vouch that many fans are very upset with Beamer, specifically for the lingering issues with offense production. (Disclaimer: I am not one of those) Another 5-win season will only make it worse. And nobody is crowning LaNorris Sellers just yet.

As for Kentucky, losing to Vandy and Carolina the season after you…[Read more]

It’s amazing how good Ludwig becomes when he has a good QB. Rising and Huntley offenses scored points and moved the ball consistently. Without Rising and Huntley offenses have no identity and become stagnate.

I’m torn on Ludwig. His play calling in the red zone lately has been part of the problem. I don’t think the rub route last game was a bad call. In my biased opinion the defender blew up our WR instead of it being offensive PI.

So Ludwig has been OC several of our best years. Two Rose Bowls, 2008 (Sugar Bowl). And been back for all our Pac12 cha…[Read more]

  • Agree, use the $ to go get players, starting with a RB. Time to shed the what could of been Cam days of past and establish stability in the offense. Utah can’t sustain super conference market value with more of what’s going on now and last season. Guessing KW and Lud retire this year or do a transitional year at most. Looking fwd to watching IW play.

Mullen is likely making that salary or close to it as an analyst at ESPN.

  • Anfernee replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 10 months ago

Scalley wants an aggressive “Urban-like offense” I think he’ll have no shortage of candidates. Especially directing an offense in this conference. Which SHOULD be not difficult but Ludwig makes EVERYTHING difficult.

  • SalUTEtheU replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 10 months ago

I don’t see a Dan Mullen leaving a low pressure TV gig to jumping back into coaching/recruiting as an OC. I think it would have to be a head coaching gig to convince him to jump back into it. Unfortunately I think we are back to find that up and coming offensive coach.

  • SalUTEtheU replied to the topic Swan ready for DC? in the forum Football 10 months ago

For me, it’s a NO to Shah and Swan. I am so disappointed with the defense this year. I recognize we have injuries, but the inability to tackle feels inexcusable to me. If we tackle we have a legitimate shot to be undefeated right now despite the warts on offense. I can’t help but relate tackling issues to coaching. I think they have both done a g…[Read more]

  • 1) I don’t think Beamer, Stoops, or Fickell or on the hot seat.

    2) South Carolina has LaNorris Sellers and Kentucky has Brock Vandagriff. Not sure about Wisconsin.

That reminds me though. Vanderbilt loses Pavia after this season, so maybe Vandy. What also saddens me is that we may have even been able to sign Pavia if Cam didn’t come back. Tha…[Read more]

He’s too small and now quick (twitchy) enough to be a DE in our system. He is more of a traditional hard hitting LB that is obsolete in today’s gam, at least in our system. I think he could potentially be a good LB/EDGE rusher in a 3-4 system.
