SteelUte replied to the topic Did fans and the media factor into their decision to go w/ Cam? in the forum Football 10 months ago
My heart breaks for Cam- I don’t question his heart or his desire. I feel bad that I joked about him cashing checks etc. It felt like he still couldn’t palm the ball. He was tossing the ball not throwing it even before the knee/ ankle.

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Is Hill top contender for DC if KW retires and Scalley is named HC? in the forum Football 10 months ago
I don’t think that’s true Miami. I’m pretty sure he would not hesitate to jump to Utah.
1) Utah can likely pay him quite a bit more money. Scalley is making $2Mish per year, right? From what I’ve read, Jay Hill makes about $1M.
2) Even though BYU is having a better year than us (which has been the case like once every 5+ years for the last two…[Read more] -

Yeah, too bad you brought it up. BYU is most definitely having its way with a Wildcat team that handled Utah pretty easily. Still have to play the game though…

Jay Hill wants to be an HC again. Jay Hill is not leaving a better BYU program and making a lateral move to a worse Utah program. Jay Hill will only come to Utah if he’s hired as the head coach. Simple as all that.

If Scalley is named HC after Whitt retires, would Jay Hill be the top contender for the DC role (assuming he’s still the DC at TSPP)? Would he consider it? What is Scalley’s equation with Hill? If not Hill, who’s your top (realistic) choice?
Could be a moot point if Hill gets poached away for a HC role after this season, but still.. -

Four Peaks is what I’m finding, I’ve tried a few local breweries but not found any quite as enjoyable. To be fair whiskey is my go to majority of the time so it’s probably just me.

Unless we can hold our opponents to under 20, we’ll probably have a hard time winning. In our four P4 games this season we’ve scored 23, 22, 10, and 19. Our D seems to be sliding the wrong direction and its going to be tough to find some creative magic for our “up the gut” offense. We are in a spot…

Yes, I’m a big fan of the Kiltlifters but not many people make it. Are you getting 4 Peaks? Or maybe the Pike’s version out of Washington. Both are much smoother than an IPA, in my opinion, without the fruitiness of a Hefeweizen. Alaskan Amber was my go to about 20 years ago and 4 Peaks has been a nice next step.

It’s almost like he’s a one-trick pony, and once that trick no longer works, he doesn’t know what to do or where to go. In addition, when Whitt says “We’ve been outcoached two weeks in a row” that, to me, is an inflammatory damning statement. You just got outcoached by a first year P4 coach and a guy that’s younger than some of the t-shirts in…[Read more]

Whitt is a good coach who was a great coach. the game has changed. he hasn’t really. Scalley is his mentee and I’m not sure I see a radical change there.
And…I’m not sure it matters because Urban Meyer and Whitt came along as the right people at the right time in the right era…and that was like winning the lottery back to back.
I do not…[Read more]

Sure but you have to play with what you’ve got, just like your opponent. If’s won’t change the last 6 results and will have no effect on the next 6. So the only thing that sounds asinine to me is playing the what-if game.
What if Rising was fully healthy last night. What if ASU wasn’t missing two defensive starters the first half along with…[Read more]

Same! If I remember correctly you’re a fan of Kiltlifter? I hope they made last night a bit more bearable. They finally made their way up to Salt Lake, I’m not typically a beer drinker but those are good.

SteelUte replied to the topic Time for a reset in the forum Football 10 months ago
Bowls used to matter- to the players, and when you take them as a preseason exhibition game, you’ll feel better as a fan. I agree with the reset mentality though. I personally get so hyped up with the “most talented team” comments, and when we lose it takes a minute to adjust- when we lose two I’m done. I can watch with no expectations.

Whitt is to blame for the false narratives he’s been putting out there and then, goes to radio silence the past two years with injuries that IMO have negatively impacted the team’s psyche. I wouldn’t doubt it if players wanted to speak out against Whitt’s better judgment because behind the scenes they themselves want to know what QB is really…[Read more]

Hate to say it, but Whitt looks like an old, exhausted guy without answers. It’s almost as if the last two seasons have aged him 10 years.

Yeah that sucked. A lot. The failed fourth down knowing Cam couldn’t plant and throw past the sticks was a big coaching blunder. Linebackers are also making uncharacteristically poor decisions; injuries have hurt the position but Lander made a few odd mistakes that hurt us. Jonathan Hall has the physical talents, but he looks to still be getting…[Read more]
