I’m in the camp of the world needs to grow up. There’s far too much concern over people getting their feelings hurt now a days. Somebody does a hand gesture and I’m supposed to lose it? Come on.

If I was a coach in the Big 12 – I would tell my players to not use that gesture.   However, it is embarrassing that they created a penalty when the gesture is used against one team. So, I agree with you.

So dumb. So when playing Texas, a new penalty exists that players must be aware of. But only when playing Texas. Because it might hurt the feelings of Texas players/fans. So dumb.

Wow. We’re talking about f**king football. People are acting like a meme-level taunt is equivalent to giving someone the middle finger now?? I’m with you, f**k soft people and their feelings

It hurts my feelings when opposing players flex their muscles or strut after tackling a Utah player or scoring. I find such actions to be excessive, malicious, and demeaning to me and the Utah football program and an insult to the Ute tribe. I therefore demand that a penalty be issued against such teams going forward.

We are much more sensitive today than before. Growing up in the 50s, common behavior taunting kids in little league baseball would shock people today. Seems to be a change for the better. Now when we need to understand the fine line where taunting is unacceptable I would say just let it alone and move on. Only after coaching middle school football did I learn if you want to keep the game going cut way back on the approaches to taunting. Younger kids take the behavior they see on TV and amp it up guaranteed. If you want some level of taunting you should volunteer to keep peace at little league football and then suggest how far taunting should go. We don’t care watching TV, but those that are emotionally invested and present at a game can have quite short fuses.

Unless we revert back into tribes, and go to war with one another. I served in the military under 3 presidents. There is no way I would serve today. So segregated, like prison. Complete disaster what’s happened the last few decades in the military.

Over emotional Americans becoming a mockery of the world. Americans used to be respected. Now, looked at as a bunch of babies.

I heard diapers and binkies were issued in boot camp these days. Oh and please don’t curse in front of these fine young men.

I don’t disagree. In the 50s and 60s there were no adults in the parks and school grounds, kids developed coping skills quickly or sank. Today, I am not sure when my grandkids will develop those same skills. In the early 70s my boot camp was exactly like that in the movie Full Metal Jacket. It was extremely hard on a few but pushed the vast majority much farther than possible today. I recently spent a week on a training base in the south and could not believe how soft basic training has become. All I can say is todays young soldiers would have incredible difficulty keeping up with those 50 years ago. That is a bad omen if they are ever on a level field facing old school opponents. So my question is how is it that we had so few over the top events back in the day when anything could be said but so many of the over the top events with so little tolerated to be said today?
