Ok we had the worst moment, now what is your best moment of 2016 for Utah Football? Here’s mine:
Go-ahead and eventual game-winning TD pass from Williams to Patrick with 16 seconds left in the USC game. That capped off a 93 yard drive. Clutch.
I have a tie between your moment and the stopage of tds-P’s two point conversion.
Worst was Carrington’s catch or the UW punt return with 3 obvious blocks in the back.
That’s hard to beat, Tony. But I’ll go with the big hit/interception combination from Chase Hansen and Marcus Williams in the Arizona game. Ending a 4 game losing streak to AZ and RichRod was a terrific feeling.
Don’t go over the middle with Hansen there.
UCLA went over the middle on Barton and Chase all day. Chase has a lot to learn about pass coverage but he is a damn stud against the run. He is better than Blechen against the pass but he still gets caught in no man’s land a lot. If he improves in coverage he will be NFL ready but he wasn’t quite there last season.
Chase is rated as the top returning safety in the PAC-12 in coverage.
No returning safety in the Pac-12 covered the pass better than Utah's Chase Hansen. pic.twitter.com/4mMnOMAcsw

How does that hold up over all of the P-5 schools?
I’m not sure. If I get bored I’ll look it up.
I jumped out of my seat with that play. So awesome.
An underrated high moment was Chase Hansen’s interception of Browning in the UW game, even though they eventually lost that game.
He wasn’t able to turn it into a pick 6, but that totally swung the momentum of the game that was looking like it could get ugly really fast. On Gameday no less.
I just re-watched that game over the weekend on PAC 12 Network and it was a total momentum changer. Had they called one of the three blocks in the back on that punt return I wonder if that game would have gone into OT?
The safety against Arizona.
Safties are rare and usually are due to an offensive mistake (holding in the end zone, bad snap on a punt, fumble lost through the end zone, etc) but Tasini blasted through the line and sacked the QB several yards behind the line of scrimmage.
That safety was awesome.
It was. Weren’t we screwed on a call before as well? Incredible.
Yeah they commited a hold that clearly behind the goal line and should have been a safety but the officials put the ball on the one yard line and then we earned the safety on the next play.
Living in St George, I don’t make it up to games much anymore. That’s what I miss most about living up in Salt Lake. Most of the other stuff in SLC I can do without.
My best moment last year was probably just being up at the UW game. I drove into town the night before, woke up early for College Gameday, hung out on campus, cheered the team on during the UteWalk, and had a blast at the game, despite the loss. I even met some really cool UW fans and had some good conversations with them.
My two favorite moments have been mentioned (final drive vs USC & Marcus Williams recovering the fumble after the Hansen hit). Other than that, probably Joe Williams putting up 332 yards against UCLA.
Loved the Williams INT against SUU.
I love all the moments above.
The pick six by Tauteloi vs BYU was epic. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life.
Seriously I could watch that play a million times and it never gets old.
I loved it especially because they had all those picks and turnovers in the Vegas bowl,
and tds fans were just groaning in the stands where I was sitting that it was happening again.
Though the rest of that game was mostly sadz for me until the end.
Difference between Utah and TDS?
We turn the ball over 6 times and still win.
Come Sept 9th, I want to see what this Utah team can do with 6 BYU turnovers. 54-10 part II!!! I can dream. 🙂
sweet jeebus that would be ah-mah-zing.
It’s so hard to pick just one.
I think the game winning TD against USC and the game saving 2 pt conversion stop against BYU are tied at the top.
Honorable mentions are Joe Williams putting up 300+ yards against UCLA and running like a savage beast in that last drive against Indiana to put us in position to win the bowl game.
My best moment was the first kickoff in the opening game. Same as it is every year.
Best moment was when Joe Williams decided to re-join the team.
How could we forget this gem.
