2008 National Champ

  • Eagle, Penix ended the regular season as the #14 rated QB in the FBS.

  • Washington is the fucking luckiest team on the face of the earth. Total DPI on the last play of the game.

  • No, he shouldn’t have. Go look at his game by game statistics. Yes, Washington was undefeated but Penix had a number of bad to mediocre games (versus ASU, Oregon State, and Wazzu) this season while Daniels had none.

  • I think Washington is going to get curb-stomped by Michigan. Texas could have done better in this game but continuously shot itself in the foot with turnovers and stupid penalties at the worst time. Michigan has a much better defense than Texas (#1 in the FBS), so I’ll be shocked if Penix and his receivers are allowed to run wild in the NCG.…[Read more]

  • One thing you could do is license the universities’ names and likenesses but have the football teams be professional in all respects. That means that none of the players would be students at all but professionals working for a shot in the NFL. And it’s the NFL who would have to fund this business venture, not the taxpayers or the universities.…[Read more]

  • I have a better solution. How about we get universities out of the entertainment business and let the NFL deal with all the hassle and cost of developing their future players? That scenario you’re suggesting is jumping the shark in a big way and definitely not something that the vast majority of universities would even contemplate.

  • Everything has an expiration date. I firmly believe that non-CFP bowl games are about to reach theirs. I mean, they’re no longer even at the level of NFL exhibition games. With the NFL games, at least you have guys busting their collective asses trying to stick with a club.

I’d be really interested in seeing what the ratings are for most…[Read more]

  • Yeah but keep in mind that Utah wasn’t playing Missouri or Georgia. Both of those are Top 10 teams whereas Northwestern had to move mountains just to get bowl eligible at the end of the season. I’m glad Utah didn’t play either of those teams because the results would not have been entertaining.

  • Those Kuithe’s don’t heal up properly

That’s correct. At least for Blake Kuithe. He’s been working as an investment broker for Goldman Sachs since he graduated from the U.

You can worry or not worry. It won’t have any effect on the game’s result. As far as Whitt keeping receipts, that also won’t matter unless Utah has an offense that can keep up with Arizona and a defense that can control Arizona’s offense.

We can talk all we want about how many players we had missing in Tucson but the fact of the matter is…[Read more]

  • I was about to say that. It’s his height that probably kept him from being ranked higher. Seeing him on a few occasions, he reminds me of a young Russell Wilson with the accompanying arm. No doubt that if he has a good season in 2024 he’ll be turning pro.

  • I doubt that Utah “destroys” Arizona from here on in as long as Fisch is there. No team came close to “destroying” Arizona this season as their biggest loss was 31-24 to Washington. Utah can beat Arizona but Rising better be up and playing to the best of his abilities. Otherwise, Arizona can beat Utah at RES. Just take a look at their roster…[Read more]

  • Yeap, no coach worth his salt waits until after s bowl game to head off to another school. That would put him well behind the eight 🎱 with regards to recruiting, filling out a staff, etc…he’s staying at least another season in Tucson.

  • If Fisch was going to leave Arizona, he would have done so already. Fifita is the real deal. I don’t know their portal or draft situation but I do know Fifita will be back and that’s enough to give me concerns. Keep in mind that Zona lost two OT games to USC and Miss State and a close 31-24 match versus Washington. I mean, there’s an alternate…[Read more]

  • How many of us have had a company invest tens of thousands of dollars in training and benefits so that once we finish training we can go to the highest bidder? Guarantee you not too many because you normally a contract to get all those bennies. I’m also personally sick of the argument that all of these athletes got to where they are in…[Read more]

  • I wouldn’t go that far but understand your sentiment. It’s one thing to leave early to go to the NFL and quite another to chase dollars at another university and possibly become a future opponent. Once any Utah player enters the portal and goes to another university, he becomes just that, a player at another university.

  • It’s an exhibition game. Moss has looked like crap in real games over the last two seasons. The real proof will be how he does in the B1G.

  • Eagle, you know the answer. There are people in this fanbase for whom Whitt can’t do any wrong. No doubt he’s an excellent coach but you have to call a spade, a spade. Sure hope we don’t have something similar happening in 2024. Whitt and Lud have to have a legitimate Plan B in case Rising is still gimpy or develops issues during the season.

  • An Achilles Heel and a knee aren’t the same but I get your point. It’s just hard to believe that, given the severity of Cam’s injury and the normal recovery period, anyone could really think that he would play in 2023.
