GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic What is your most memorable play in Utah football history? in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
Oddly enough…
…my most memorable play was when QB Brett Ratliff failed on the 2-point conversion at the end of the game against Texas A&M in 2003. We lost the game and Ratliff broke his wrist on the play.
Why is that play so memorable for me? Because the next game he was replaced by a little-known backup named Alex Smith. The rest is…[Read more]

Disclaimer: I’m speculating right now.
The position he was holding his arm in and the way he supported his elbow with the other hand is a telltale sign of a collarbone injury. When he first hurt it on that hard impact with the ground, my assumption was broken collarbone. But when he went back in and scored right after, that pretty much ruled out…[Read more]

Flashy gunslinger? Blessed with freakish skills and athleticism? Heisman contender? Going to be playing on Sundays? No, no, no, and no.
Barnes is a farmer who loves to play football. Small-town kid. Walk-on. Willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. Humble. Got that dawg in him. This program was built on the backs of kids like him (not…[Read more]

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic How do you cope or overcome the intense nervousness while watching our game? in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
I’m not your therapist, but since you appear to be looking for help…
I want to focus on this statement:
Like most of you, I’m far too invested in our players, coaches, the whole program and university in general. That in itself is not a problem.
Yes, it is a problem.
The players and coaches are not your friends. They are not your family. The f…[Read more]

My tickets showed up the other day. No idea if we’ll be good, but I expect we’ll be entertaining. I’ll be there to watch (almost) every game. LFG!

For some reason, I was 100% confident we would make the 2. Like, there was no doubt in my mind at all.

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic How does a program that prided itself on defense in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
See my original post. Was I in any way unclear about what my point was?
1. We know how to recruit linebackers, and Lloyd proves it.
2. Replacing the best linebacker in program history isn’t easy.Hey, it looks like we just won. Pull that stick out of your ass and enjoy it!

1. He looks to be OK.
2. That’s what we said when Kuithe went out. Didn’t happen. Next man up. -

Um…didn’t we graduate the best linebacker in the history of the school last year? Does he not count towards your assessment of “incapable of recruiting linebackers”? And did you think we would be able to replace our most talented linebacker ever that easily?

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic This is just really fast men vs really slow boys in the forum Football 2 years, 8 months ago
It’s not recruiting. It’s bribing. That’s the problem.
Probably the best thing all Utah fans could do to help the team right now is take a second job and donate the salary to the football program so we can compete financially for players.

Yep. Blame NIL. USC has an embarrassment of riches at every position that they didn’t recruit. Rather, they bought it.

Some psychologist should do a study on people who overreact during/immediately after sporting events they’re too emotionally invested in.

We’re still a defensive team. We’re just having a down year. You don’t lose once-in-a-generation players like we had last year and not experience a dropoff. The nasty Utah defense will be back.

Pretty sure that game-winning FG was actually partially blocked. I can’t believe it had the distance.

Ugh…so many posters suggesting butt rock like the 55-year-old we are. News flash: Kids don’t listen to butt rock any more. Are you actually hoping the whole team transfers due to this strategy?
Walkout music should be Jimmy Cooks by Drake/21Savage

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic Was last year the best year Utah Football will ever have? in the forum Football 2 years, 9 months ago
“Ever” is an awfully big word, Tony. Who knows what college football will look like in 10, 20, 50, or 100 years?
Under the current set of circumstances, I think the Rose Bowl is pretty much our ceiling. But I have to think that at some point smarter people will take over college sports and there will be a new set of circumstances. So will the…[Read more]
