ProudUte started the topic Best personal one-game performance in Utah football history in the forum Football 4 years ago
We have all attended and watched a lot of Utah football games over the years. What do you consider the best one-game performances you have seen.
At the top of the list for me are:
– What Joe Williams did in the Rose Bowl a few years ago. He ran for over 300 yards and set a Rose Bowl record. He was totally amazing in that game.
– Scott…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic My perfect football season in the forum Football 4 years ago
Let me preface this by stating that I do NOT believe that this will happen. I don’t want coug fans to say that we Utes are all delusional. In reality, I don’t think that we have the experience to be as good as we were in 2019, but I hope that I am wrong. I suspect we will probably lose 2 or 3 games. Below is simply my dream of a perfect 2021…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic Question about paying for non scholarship kids getting their tuition paid in the forum Football 4 years ago
Built Bar is now paying the tuition for non-schollie BYU football players (38 I believe). Does it matter who pays for the tuition (school or corporation)? In the 1970s they put a hard cap on scholarships so the big-boys would not leave others behind. I am sure BYU is following NCAA guidelines on this, but something doesn’t seem right about it. …[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic I am opposed to the cancel culture in the forum They So Poo Poo 4 years ago
But, this is more than I can handle.
Built Bar is funding all of the BYU walkons (basically scholarships). I won’t be buying any more Built Bars. Wait, I never bought one. Oh well.
This is TIC. I am still opposed to cancel-culture. If you like Built Bars – you should continue to buy them even though they have gone to the dark side. If…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic How many catches per game in the forum Football 4 years ago
The post below about Enis (I totally agree with it) got me thinking about how many pass receptions we have to go around. In our best passing year in a long time (2019) we averaged 23 receptions per game.
Below is my unscientific estimate of the average receptions per game for our top guys.
Covey and Kuithe – 5 receptions each per game (If these…[Read more] -

Alex Smith to ESPN
Good for Alex. I still hope that he goes into coaching someday. I think he would make a helluva coach. -
ProudUte started the topic Quote from Samson Nacua in article on ksl.com in the forum They So Poo Poo 4 years ago
“I think this offense has been perfect for me,” Nacua said. “I didn’t get to explode as much as I ever wanted to throughout my years at Utah. It’s a different kind of offense up there, obviously, and I was able to make it work. But I don’t think I was ever able to expose how talented I truly am. I think being down here will help me show more what…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic I am not a big fan of Checketts on ESPN 700 in the forum They So Poo Poo 4 years ago
But, I had a few minutes today and when I turned his show on he said, “BYU fans are the kings of the hypothetical. Many believe they won last year. They did not play, so NO BYU did not win and it’s unlikely they will win in 2021.” One thing Checketts does do – is say what he feels without apology. This time, I agree with him.
Last fall I ran…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic I love coach Whit in the forum Football 4 years ago
BUT – I have never liked his style of conservative play when leading by only 5-10 points. I believe it has cost us a number of games. If we are ahead by 21 with ten minutes to play, I believe playing conservative is the right thing to do. However, when leading by 10 points or less, I think you have to do what got you there.
Everyone in college…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic Utah's stadium when I first attended in the forum Football 4 years ago
Actually, this photo was taken in 1929, two years after it was built. The initial cost was $133,000 and the stadium held 20,000 fans. In 1947 they added the north endzone and 10,000 more seats. In 1972, Robert Rice donated 1 million dollars and astroturf was added. That’s when it became Rice Stadium. Later 2500 seats were added in the south…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic It's a good thing Glover didn't visit SLC this last weekend in the forum Football 4 years ago
He mentioned in his interview that he was so impressed with the mountains (I agree) when he visited.
If he would have visited this last weekend, he would have seen nothing but smoke. I have never experienced anything as bad as what we have seen these last 5 days. AT least when there is an inversion – you can head up into the mountains to get…[Read more] -

This was posted today:
Proverbs 16:18:“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”The arrogance coming from Utah fans is insane, so get ready for the destruction.

ProudUte started the topic It was rare in the 70s and 80s that we beat out top schools for recruits in the forum Football 4 years ago
Now, most of our recruits are being recruited by top teams. The only two players (I remember) from the 70s/80s we won the recruiting battle for against top teams were Steve Clark in 1978 and Scott Mitchell. Clark was recruited by Nebraska and others. Scott Mitchell was also highly recruited. These are both local kids. We brought in some great…[Read more]

I know that not everyone will agree, but IMO the best news so far from camp is that 92% of the players are fully vaccinated. I don’t want to have quarantine issues or players missing games because of this virus.

This is a nice article that focuses most on the QB battle. Also, states that Max Tupai is officially gone. (No big surprise there.)

I was curious what the thoughts of the cougar faithful were about the conference re-alignments. I saw on a post laughing at the fact that the Utes were only picked second in the south, implying that it was a sad day to be a Ute.

ProudUte started the topic Some suggest that we can't lose to BYU because in the forum They So Poo Poo 4 years ago
our recruiting is much better than that team from Provo. I believe that is why Barry Switzer said Utah could not compete with Alabama in the 2009 Sugar Bowl. Also, using that logic, we could never compete with Oregon or USC.
I am not suggesting that we will lose to that team from Provo. I believe we will win. However, I do not have confidence…[Read more] -
