  • You need to throw out the Texas game because we had key players not playing that game on defense and the offense was terrible that night. I am not sure that we had our heads in that game because of the implosion against the Ducks.

The USC game is interesting. They decided to throw deep all night long and Blackmon was not healthy in that game.…[Read more]

  • And I don’t think it is even close. I heard the other day that 12 players on our 2-deep played in the NFL. That’s amazing. We had three all-conference defensive linemen. Think about that. There are four defensive linemen, and there are 12 teams. That is just crazy.

The defense that season gave up an average of 269 yards per game and only 15…[Read more]

  • I would prefer the BIG to the Big 12 for obvious reasons. That would be great. However, I would really prefer that the PAC 12 had not imploded. I don’t like the travel to the east coast. It will be costly for our “Olympic” sports teams.

I like these guys, but they are definitely wearing crimson goggles. These guys say that this is the best Utah football team ever. I hope that will be true, but as of today – I don’t think so. 2004, 2008, 2019, and 2021 will be tough to beat.

I think we have the potential to be a very good team and make the CFP. However, I am not yet ready to…[Read more]

  • In 2021, we had Rising throwing to three excellent tight ends. We often played three tight end sets in 2021. This season we have three stud tight ends again in Kuithe, King, and Lyons. We have a handful of other tight ends who can play as well. Of course, we don’t have Covey, but we do have Singer, Money, Pitman, et al. Someone will have to…[Read more]

  • ProudUte started the topic Rising's preseason ranking in the forum Football 1 year ago

Yesterday, Bill Riley talked about a list of the top incoming QBs for the 2024 college football season. Rising was ranked 16th on the list. Riley was upset. He feels Rising deserves much better.

I kind of get the ranking. When he plays in 2024, he will have not played in 20 months. He suffered a major injury. This injury could possibly…[Read more]

  • It ain’t over until the fat-lady sings.

Utah will still recruit him. Hopefully, Isaac Wilson tries to get him to change his mind.

Good for Rose for staying. I hate the transfer portal, especially with QBs. Who knows what his role will be in 2024. Regardless, I wish him the best going forward.

Aloha, good analysis. I agree. UCF will be tough considering it is a cross-country game on a short week.

As of today – I think Utah would be favored in all 12 games. Do I expect them to win all 12? No. I don’t think we are so good, that we won’t stumble along the way, especially if we experience key injuries.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Star rating system is flawed in the forum Football 1 year ago

I don’t really disagree with your post. I never said that the ratings are meaningless or that they do not matter. I pointed out that Georgia is on top because they have double-digit 5-star guys. I used the Superbowl as a true example, that honestly surprised me when I heard it. I thinkthe ratings are generally good for many positions, but it…[Read more]

  • ProudUte started the topic Star rating system is flawed in the forum Football 1 year ago

Did you know that only one 5-star high school QB ever led his team to a Superbowl championship? One would probably guess Payton Manning, John Elway, etc. But, it is Stafford.

I believe that the star rating system is flawed, especially when it comes to QBs. BYU signed two different 5-star QBs that never played in the NFL. They signed a mid…[Read more]

  • I doubt UM will ever consider coaching at Utah. But, if he does, we should definitely listen. That being said, I am all in on Scalley being our next head coach. He has learned from the best.

  • They did not deserve to be left out in the dark. I just looked at their football schedules for 2024. Both teams have MWC schedules without being part of the conference.

I am happy that Utah landed on its feet. But WSU and OSU deserved better IMO.

    Go Utes!!!

  • ProudUte started the topic More preseason hype in the forum Football 1 year ago

    New teams in the CFP

I think the hype helps our football program with recruiting, etc. The publicity is a good thing. I am not too worried with players getting too cocky. Coach Whitt will take care of that IMO.

A few weeks back – I saw a post on the CB that I found kind of funny. The poster wrote that he likes BYU being rated 12th or 13th…[Read more]

  • I have lived through two 1-10 seasons in the 1970s, but they weren’t the most frustrating seasons for me because expectations were low. Here are my most frustrating seasons in chronological order:

1973 – There were high expectations for the Utah football team that year and they upset 8th ranked ASU. But, we blew it in the end and finished with…[Read more]

  • I completely agree that Isaac Wilson is our QB of the future.

  • I want to get the best possible QB in the portal. But, with Rising being our starter, it seems like it will be difficult to find any 4-star caliber kids who would be willing to make that change.

I think McCae is a “bulldog” and may surprise some people in spite of his size. That being said, as I posted in my initial post, I am only looking for…[Read more]

  • He led Skyridge to the 6A state football championship in 2022. Utah State recruited him. He got to start for a few games as a true freshman and did not do badly until he got injured. I loved watching him in high school. He made things happen. He was an amazing runner.

Should we be interested in him? He would not be our future at QB.…[Read more]

  • Super League

They put us in the Plains Division, which seems a bit odd. I doubt this will be what we see. But, if it means that Utah remains with the big boys – I would take it. In the end – I suspect that the 7 division winners would make a playoff along with 9 at-large invitations.

I would like to take this over from our current situation.
