Yergensen replied to the topic How do we feel about Snoop joining the Browns? in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Could be good. I could get into the reliability of Watson, Winston and DTR, but you don’t carry 4 QBs if you think you have your backup. Snoop may be competing for more than QB3.
Stepfanski brought Flacco out of retirement and got the Browns to the playoffs. He will do whatever is necessary to win, even if it has to do with Watson who is a s…[Read more]

Return to averaging 38 pts per game.
This might seem obvious, but everything that factors (game plan, playcalling, personnel) needs to align with more balance and aggressiveness, less predictability on offense.
When we’ve done this, we’ve won P12 championships. When we haven’t, we don’t.

How is Pope getting BYU into the tourney in first B12 season? They’re more disadvantaged than we are.
It’s basketball with small rosters and a transfer portal. This can be turned around quickly if you get the right coach. We don’t have the right coach. Time for Harlan to earn his paycheck.

Market size indicates potential viewership, but brand + program strength + level of fan base engagement are driving actual viewership and this might be carrying more weight than market size.
Good example is Stanford and Cal. Big market, nice brands, both programs are down and both fanbases show lower engagement in good or bad times. Viewership…[Read more]

Vaki should be a workout warrior at the combine with his freak athleticism. His stock should keep rising from this.
Will be surprised if he doesn’t lead his position group in multiple events and is near the top of overall results in multiple events.
I hear his vertical is off the charts. I’m also interested in what his 40 time will be. That TD…[Read more]

Yergensen replied to the topic Joel Klatt’s way too early preseason poll – Utah #8 in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
This disproves BYU fan current narrative that Utah is consistently overrated in the pre-season and consistently underperforms or in BYU fan speak crashes and burns to expectation.
Data takes most of the emotion and bias out of it. Thanks as always Krindor!
Death, taxes and Utah football…nothing is certain in life but these 3 things.

That play nullified CP3 pick in OSU end zone and led to a quick OSU TD as opposed to flipping the field.
That blocked punt was maddening. Punt, kick and coverage game was broken all year long despite all the coach speak.

A lot of focus on the secondary that game because we had a RB playing back there. Don’t forget DL got zero pressure that game.
With a healthy secondary and no pass rush, a world class QB like Stroud still picks us apart all day long. He was playing backyard nerf football, 20 Mississippi rush against us.
Our Oline and Dline are key to getting t…[Read more]

Our problems may run deeper. Harlan’s track record doesn’t provide evidence that he can hire the right coach.
One could argue that Harlan is a sustainer at best, riding Chris Hill’s coattails. At worst he is a poor evaluator/decision maker (see his USF and his Utah hires to date, not good).
We have big decisions and strategic navigation to be…[Read more]

I would be shocked if more than 1 Big 12 team makes it. Not because I look down on the conference, but P2 and ND will control or at least heavily influence who at large goes to.

Yergensen replied to the topic Chip Kelly leaving UCLA in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
Yeah, sabotage would land you outside the industry. But man, it looks like he’s put in zero work this offseason. He’s been planning to leave for some time. I’m assuming he did UCLA a favor by resigning, I wonder what his payout would have been had he been fired.

Yergensen replied to the topic Chip Kelly leaving UCLA in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
Wild, almost has the look of sabotage, CK definitely has been checked out for awhile. UCLA recruiting class, which recruits itself, ranked 59th and then CK leaves after the class signs for a coordinator position. They’ll now lose players, scramble for a new head coach and go into Big 10 play in shambles.
The only program more deserving of this k…[Read more]

It looks like he played in a smaller classification. Great numbers against small schools might be a reason he’s off radar.
