My primary displeasure isn’t with NIL. It is with the new conference we have landed in. I really loved beating Oregon and USC especially. I have little excitement for our new “rivals” in the league. Perhaps that will grow over time, but meh.

Well said, Miami. This echos my feelings.

For the first time in my life, I am thinking of taking a step back in my fandom. The 2024 season was very painful, and the 2023 season was not a lot better. I enjoyed the 1965 1-10 season more than this last season. This may seem odd, but the expectations were limited back in 75.

    I have no idea…[Read more]

I’m in the same spot you are and this upcoming season might be my last as a season ticket holder. I have no problem with athletes getting paid but there need to be some guardrails instituted to bring stability to college sports. You cannot have eternal and constant free-agency if you want fans of a team to remain connected and involved with a…[Read more]

College football has always been a player carousel.
The carousel is simply moving a bit faster in the transfer era.

Players have always come and gone, with limited eligibility and aspirations to leave and play in the NFL.
There have been plenty of Utah players who only really had one good year; that doesn’t mean they weren’t exciting.

    Sure it is…[Read more]

Starting to see more player analysis and depth chart projections as of late (kudos to Butters). I know it’s not an original thought, but especially when I look at the projected offense I have to admit that my very strongest emotion is ambivalence. Having a great offensive line is awesome for your team, but there will be exactly zero times this s…[Read more]

Nobody wants to hear their narrative is tired and old. Fans who don’t know anything about the program will continue to blame Whit for a problem he fixed years ago.

This would be such a terrible backup DT rotation. Kaufusi is a 286 pound freshman and Lea’ea is 271 pounds. That’s absolutely abysmal for DT. Can we really not take any more portal DT’s? Because we are royally screwed along the D-line imo.

One of the reasons you could make these projections without any “ors” is because our depth is so thin. In the past, at least ½ the positions had an or at the first string or the second string. I think we can have a respectable team this year IF we can remain injury-free at the positions where we have the least depth.

I would argue your assessment if Wilson didn’t have average speed and a unbearable fear of contact. Combine that with Wilson’s below average passing skills and you had defenses stacking the line to stop an average run game. If Dampier lives up to the hype and one RB has a breakout season… It could make Utah great again.

    Rangum,
I can tell you with certainty that what you’ve heard about Scalley wanting Arbuckle as number one choice is false. He liked Arbuckle and would have supported the hire but he wanted Whittingham to interview Beck from the start and when Arbuckle “used” the Utah position to get Oklahoma Whittingham agreed to bring in Beck.

    The second guy…[Read more]

I think Garcia will be the first lineman off the bench regardless of position. He’s cross trained at multiple positions this spring including center.

I think Dillon has the potential to be a star at Utah. He’s a candidate to have a breakout year. I’m very bullish on him.

Kanai’s length is a problem for QB’s in passing situations. With another g…[Read more]

The only reason the offense struggled the last two seasons is because of injuries.

During the two Pac12 championships and Rose Bowls Cam was healthy and the offense was a juggernaut under Ludwig

If Dampier stays healthy with the talent around him especially in the Oline Beck and him will make the O prolific and Whit goes down as one of the…[Read more]

I’ve been there a few times, and you should absolutely go, especially if you’ve never been there before. SW South Dakota is unlike the other parts of the state, and the landscape reminds me of Switzerland. I highly recommend visiting Spearfish Canyon and Deadwood if you do get up there.

Maybe…but I feel this team is closer to 7-5 than they are 9-3.

There are a few things going against ’em that concern me:

    1. Opening on the road vs UCLA. This is a game that I think Utah can win and will likely dictate the season. But as of right now, Vegas puts Utah only as a three-point favorite.

It’s going to be a toss-up and Utah doesn’t…[Read more]

  • I’m projecting Hall to make a Devin Lloyd type leap from 1st to 2nd year and with his throw game skills should allow Snowden to move outside since the nickel won’t be as necessary.

Working 40 hours a week as a seasonal water worker for a city and 20 hours at Chipotle to pay for college! But my parents are inviting me to go to the Black Hills this summer so it should be fun.

I think he’s better at RT. He’s played it forever. My son trained with him a bit in HS at Tuni Kanuch’s training center. His skills are elite and he’s been doing the one on ones a long time.

    Butters,
A couple of questions for you. Garcia at center is new information to me – not that I had any insider knowledge. I’ve assumed he’d be our next great tackle. Is he a tackle-in-waiting who gets playing time backing up Kump at center or is he going to be our center of the future? Do you know?

Dillon over Fitzgerald is another projection I’m…[Read more]
