I don’t think Harding is a poor coach. But, I do think that our offensive line has not been top-tier like we need to be to compete at this level. Just my uneducated opinion. I admit that I am limited in what I know about the Oline and their specific assignments.
Yes, Fano is getting a lot of positive pub right now. That’s a great thing!

There’s a profit sharing agreement with the players on the horizon. Preparation for that is one of the main reasons why Oklahoma State forced Gundy to restructure his contract.

As for me – I give it a grade of B. I kind of like Beck, but he was our third choice. I think Atuaia is a good get with some solid experience. Micah Simon may end up being good, but he lacks big-time experience. This is position group that needs help.
I would have changed the Oline coach. It seems like Harding has something on Whitt. I…[Read more]

That dude is the (2nd) worst coach we’ve ever had to play against on a regular basis. The constant on field bitching and belittling of his players. Easy coach to root against.

The University’s aren’t paying players now…how will they allocate the coaching money to them?

Whitt himself said that the top 25 ranked teams will increasingly look like the top 25 NIL teams.
That said, I do think there’s a balance. We’ve seen a lot of bad teams w/ a ton of talent. NIL will be the #1 factor, but coaching, development (helping players prepare for the NFL), culture, etc. are still important too.
I agree w/ what you said.…[Read more]

I’m confused by the 247 RB rankings. They have Eli Sanders at #10 and Jaylon Glover at #11. Is Sanders undervalued or is Glover overvalued? I sure hope it’s the latter (or we might be in trouble)!
Anyway, we need the Washington State RB. According to On3, he’s visiting Arizona, Utah, UCLA, and USC. I feel pretty good about our odds based on…[Read more]

Players matter more than coaches. Any one who has done any coaching at any level understands that the best way to look smart as the coach is to have the best players.
Suppose two college football teams spend 15m each. One team spends 10m on coaching- say 5 or 6m to the head coach and 4-5 to assistants while spending 5m on players. The other team…[Read more]

Honestly…I think this is more a Scalley hire than a Whitt hire. And that is a good thing. Whitt has always gone for a big name at OC, someone, in Whitt’s mind, to take care of the offense while he takes care of the defense.
Dennis Erickson, Norm Chow, Christensen was a hot name from Missouri, Troy Taylor and his iPhone offense.
Beck is a…[Read more]

Bronco wanted him and knew at that point he was going to USU (were working out details), but Utah made a much larger offer. It was a no brainer.

The changes to college sports were not driven by big $$$. Big $$$ has been involved for a long time.
The changes were immediately driven by the courts recognizing that the previous rules were illegal. This was not an attempt to improve sports. It was a judicial ruling that recognized college sports were built on an unenforceable and illegal premise.

I’d be surprised if Bronco didn’t want to keep Beck. They had a very successful offense and Bronco didn’t change conferences. So if it worked at UNM, it’s highly probably that it would’ve worked at USU too. They mostly lost games b/c of their defense. And, who could Bronco have gotten at USU that’s better than Beck? Beck was the best that…[Read more]

Considering how we complain about the lack of transparency on the hill I am always amazed how people know things “clearly”.
I don’t think it is clear at all what took place over the last month or so.
Truth be told I don’t know a thing about the Lobos season until I looked it over. Everyone told me Bronco was doing ok. I would disagree with th…[Read more] -

Maybe my memory of former Cam is tainted by recent Cam, but Rose looked just as good or better running than Cam ever did. At least, from an athletic perspective. Maybe not on the option reads.

Tampering? I am sorry, but the semblance of any structure or rules to transfers and NIL is nearly nonexistent. It is naive to think there is any real boundary at this point. The NCAA has no control over it. Players and teams can talk to whomever they want whenever they want.
If a kid goes to another school, it is going to happen. Who cares when…[Read more]

I don’t have an issue with you or anyone else that actually attempted to answer the question. My issue is that people often downvote but then don’t bother to contribute to the discussion.
I bring it up as a way to encourage more participation in the discussion.

From a fan perspective, I don’t think the NIL/Portal system is that much different from recruiting in general.
There are many high school recruits that never even see the field. Most fans probably don’t even follow recruiting all that closely. I actually think that more people are paying attention to portal comings and goings than they ever did…[Read more]
