  • BYU is a private school and will not dislose anything.

I find this all interesting since the church authorities said they would not get involved in pay-to-play when NIL came out. I guess if a few rich billionaires pay the bill – they don’t have a problem with it. The only thing I know for sure is that the top recruit in the country that will…[Read more]

I agree, but we need to be MUCH better in 2025 if we want to compete. A lot of it is on the Oline IMO.

Hunter Andrews has found his home. And TE’s are most definitely used in this offense.

  • Last season Nate Johnson, while and Vandy, rushed the ball 11 times and averaged 10.4 ypc. He can do whatever the fook he wants, if he’s averaging 10+ ypc, as far as I’m concerned.

They’ve already tried him as an LB. He’s now on his 3rd room before his RS Freshman season which makes it seem like his athletic ability is getting him chances that his football skill level isn’t cashing in.

Based on the stats in the OP, I’d say his next spot will be D-End where they try to replicate Connor O’Toole.

I was really hoping Andrews would have worked out in the RB room. With our current group of under 200-lbs scatbacks, we could have really used a powerback among them.

    KSL article

Interesting information. It sounds like Parker will be RB1 as expected. They do not list Nate Johnson in the RB room, but Whitt says that he is our “Swiss army knife.” Andrews has moved to tight end, which makes sense with his size and speed.

I know some of you don’t like Johnson playing the role of a Swiss army knife. As for…[Read more]

I loved Bernard, but he got up hobbled on a regular basis. Not injured to the point he was missing games, but there was noticeable limping etc.

Parker had few carries and averaged more per carry and had the same amount of TDs.

Like I said in my first post, having a passing game is going to be the best help to the run game. If we can pass the…[Read more]

  • Definitely underused, especially because we really didn’t have another true PG. Once Miro was benched, we relied on wings like Sharavjamts, Erickson and Madsen to run the point. Not only that, but it was several wings who rotated in that post. Just seemed like a bad idea, and the results bear that out.

  • Definitely not to take away from your point, because you’re 100% right. But I’m pretty sure he God $500k because he was expected to be the starting PG all season. He was in the starting lineup for a number of games to start the season and was eventually put on the bench when he continued to play sloppy and undisciplined.

    I suspect Miro entered…[Read more]

  • Nate Johnson is an amazing athlete. I think you keep the opposition on their toes by putting Johnson in at different positions. More often than not, he could be a decoy.

Someone above wondered if he could be productive just playing the position and not just on trick plays. I believe the answer to that is YES. I think he could develop into a…[Read more]

Uhhhh…not really. Vaki proves his point. Look at Vaki’s numbers:

Game 1: 158 yards rushing, -5 yards receiving.
Game 2: 68 yards rushing, 149 yards receiving.
    Game 3: 11 yards rushing, 0 receiving.
Game 4: -4 yards rushing, 67 yards receiving.
Game 5: 10 yards rushing, -8 yards receiving.
    Game 6: 68 yards rushing, 0 receiving.

    Vaki was…[Read more]

I think the counterpoint to yours is simple, the staff, and most of us fans, want the best talent on the field as much as possible. If you have a special player like a Weddle (who wasn’t the best player ever until they moved him around), Vaki, etc.. and can solidify plays they excel at, why wouldn’t you?

  • pedro replied to the topic Hunter Andrews in the forum Football 1 month ago

Beck stated earlier this week that with the TE’s on hand, the offense will adjust to utilize them.

  • You do both, to fail to do one or the other has problems.

why are you even arguing about this? IDGAF what position he plays. I have no inside knowledge, no expertise. I am just parroting what I read in an article.

If you want my opinion on your second point, look at comments to Proud’s recent post that address essentially exactly that. I don’t care enough to repeat them here.

  • Vaki had more than one or two plays he ran effectively, and he was a physical freak of nature. Vaki did a good job of running inside and out, and catching the ball. With Vaki it wasn’t obvious what the play would be when he came in the game. That is what I don’t want. I don’t want a Dixon or Stanley situation where everyone watching knows exactly…[Read more]

Would you rather the talent you just described getting 10-15 touches a game (RB) or 3-5 (utility or TE)?

And isn’t NJ our utility player? How many utility players make sense?

  • Yes, that is exactly what I’m getting at. If he’s going to be integrated into our offense, and on the field consistently in a variety of situations, I see no problem with it assuming he produces. If we just have a package for him where he comes in in certain situations with a couple of possible plays, that will be detrimental to the offense.
