I don’t disagree with your 4. The problem is that it makes too much sense.
A committee of people who have proven over the last decade that stated criteria are only important when they want it to be is probably not going to move Texas up 5 spots while leaving out a formerly higher ranked team which beat their previous #1.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic SEC CCG Repercussions in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
as of 5:38pm Arizona time, I see two current scenarios.
1. Michigan and FSU win. Committee decides that FSU has proven themselves and moves them to 1, Michigan and UW stay at 2 & 3, Alabama moves to 4. ESPN will want to sell the traditional Rose Bowl and will get plenty of eyes for FSU/Bama. Pretty much their dream playoff.
2. Michigan…[Read more]

LSU also had a great defense in Burrow’s year. Daniels is having to do it on his own. But sportswriters like to outsmart themselves and they’ll typically award the player on the team with the least losses.

In a perfect world, 1 loss Georgia and Alabama would get left out. In the current unpronounceable 4 letter word world we live in where they own the playoff, the SEC and the committee are in charge of inviting teams that they can sell the best.,, fat chance neither makes it

Any of the 3 is deserving. As are a bunch of others that won’t even get a sniff because they aren’t a QB or didn’t have the best stats on a playoff worthy team.
I haven’t taken the heisman seriously since Hugh Green lost out to George Rogers in 1980. Even at 12 I was able to figure out that most outstanding player didn’t really mean most…[Read more]

“He’s just on a worse team”
Everything that is wrong with Heisman voting summed up in 5 words. The award is supposed to go to the “most outstanding player in college football”. Leave it to urinalists to take a good idea and bastardize it to near meaninglessness.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic New DB Commit – Quimari Shemwell in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
I think @Hellhound is referring to the mindset that goes along with a signing. Not everyone can be a diamond in the rough but every commitment is hailed as the next great Ute.
If 5 kids out of a class of 20 eventually become starters, you’ve had a really good class. But you’ve also had 15 that either got injured, were JAG’s (Just A Guy:…[Read more]

Did you get to take little man with you?
I always factor any money I take with me to Vegas as already lost. That way anything I come back with is profit and if I lose my bets, I’m still “breaking even”.

I’m not a sports bettor but I’d have probably taken whichever team was getting 9 points. That game was screaming for a 3 point line based on recent history and both teams were evenly matched the first time they played.

that’s what vegas figured it would take to get even money on each side. the line isn’t supposed to say which team is better.

I remembered Miami saying he’d bet his kids tuition on Oregon curb stomping and looked it up. Of course, had a certain admin set up a game chat, we could have done it there. But apparently gallivanting in sin city was more important 🙂

down to 3 points. I’m torn between wanting you to win your bet and having a husky football in my crib. Is there a way UW can win but you make money?
-
2008 National Champ replied to the topic CCG in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
Not really a surprise. People have been saying UW is going to fall on their faces since fall camp and they keep finding ways to get it done. It’s not a fluke that they have a zero in the loss column so far.

Oregon wins the 2nd half by 3 TD’s and you are in the money

or UW could do what Utah did in ’21 by just continuing to build the lead. guess we’ll find out which is right in a couple of hours

2008 National Champ replied to the topic So what happens if a team loses so many players to the portal in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
money for the networks. most schools lose money on the lower to mid tier bowls. it’s not cheap to send your whole team, support staff, band, etc. not to mention that they lose some of their payout if they don’t sell their allotment of tickets.

I wouldn’t call them mercenaries but it stands to reason that 17 year-olds make decisions that they may want to change and now the portal gives them that opportunity. Our enjoyment shouldn’t come at their expense so if they feel like the school isn’t right for them or they think they can set themselves up for the future elsewhere.,, I wish them…[Read more]
