2008 National Champ replied to the topic Tight End in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
You’ve got around 60 offensive players and everyone loves to tell me what a genius Ludwig is. If the answer to an inept offense is robbing from the defense instead of figuring out how to make things work with what you already have.,, that’s not an approach that I’m a fan of.
I hope it works but Ponzi schemes have a history of crashing in…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Yahoo midseason awards in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
I would say that the list of kids who actually improve their draft stock by coming back for another year is pretty small. Not that I ever had to make that decision, but I think that if I did I would go at the first opportunity. There’s a few college kids who can make enough off NIL to set themselves up for life. The rest need to go as soon as…[Read more]

Not to mention he has one of the best resources sitting across from him at the dinner table as to how/when to leverage his college experience to maximize his pro prospects.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Jonah Elliss gets ESPN midseason All-American HM in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Elliss has better numbers than both the Edges listed and every justification they gave for Turner applies to Elliss including playing on a defense that is Top 15 in scoring and total defense.
Player A: 7 games, 29 Tackles, 14 solo, 9.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 2 forced fumbles
Player B: 6 games, 20 tackles, 10 solo, 9 tackles for loss, 5.5…[Read more] -
2008 National Champ replied to the topic Whitt said that Rising could come back next year. Do we want that? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
If the best course of action is Rising in ’24 and a transfer or Wilson in ’25, you might as well clean out the QB room as soon as possible since they are just taking up space.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Whitt said that Rising could come back next year. Do we want that? in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
I guess I’m just seeing a common theme that since the offense is bad this year, the people who are getting experience going through it should not be in the mix going forward.

What about the guys who have led you to your current 5-1 record? Who still have you in the conference title hunt and an outside shot at the CFP this year.
From what you posted, only people who haven’t played for Utah this year are the future.

Thomas was pretty disruptive to the locker room in ’22 and Whitt kept giving him chances.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Vaki is a "Freak" in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
Since he’s a mission kid, Vaki could go after this season if he gets a good enough grade. I’d hate to have to break in 2 new safeties in ’24

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Double reverse playcall – intervention needed in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
You can count on a trick play every time Utah drives inside the 40. Part of the reason they don’t work is because the D has seen them on tape and is aware that something is coming. The other reason is that they aren’t based on any other plays Utah runs.
Vele never fakes a reverse so it’s pretty obvious something is up when he heads in that…[Read more]

Charlie isn’t wrong. There seems to be new legislation every week codifying something that seems like government overreach in California.

I took all of the FCS teams out but there are still a lot of G5 at P5 games in that dataset which would seem to inflate the home number.

It was roughly the equivalent of driving 36 in a 35 mph zone and getting thrown in jail for reckless driving instead of just getting a speeding ticket.
I agree that the refs had the right to call it the way they did by rule but what really bothers me is when targeting is called but personal foul isn’t. On that play, the refs essentially said…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Home vs away in the post 2020 era in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
There’s a reason that the oddsmakers give anywhere from 3 to 7 points for home field advantage v neutral field. When two fairly evenly matched teams face each other, that’s a huge advantage.
I also track the Team Talent Composite and the actual results say that since 2015, the more talented team on the road wins 56% of the time while they win…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Tafuna roughing in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
there were two flags on the play. Offsides and roughing the passer. The offsides was declined and the roughing accepted. It was bang bang but Tafuna made contact just before the ball started moving.
TV showed it a few times and even froze it.
