Honestly, if any of us had been offered a full ride scholly – even by BYU-P – when we were in 7th grade, we’d all say yes too.
Then we’d reconsider after we grew up a bit more.

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic Whose seat will start to get hot first, Coach Whitt or Coach K? in the forum Other Ute Sports 7 years, 6 months ago
K’s seat is not hot.
My only real issue with K right now is how he’s developing (or, not developing) his bigs. He’s supposed to be a great teacher of big men, yet we get outrebounded every game. And then there’s Jokl, who was supposed to be the next coming of Poeltl, but he can’t even get off the bench. If we had decent bigs we’d be 4-0 in…[Read more]

Sorry to piss in the cereal, but I think we get boat raced today. We struggle defending athleticism, and ASU is the most athletic team we’ll face this year. Keep in mind we got pounded by an athletic UNLV team (the same UNLV team that got beat by Utah St. last night).

I’ll be very, *very* frank for a moment. When you are recruiting a black kid from Florida or Michigan or Texas, is it easier to recruit him to Utah (the whitest state in the union) or to Los Angeles?
The problem is you’re saying Whit has to recruit like USC, but you won’t acknowledge that more kids want to live in LA than SLC.
I’ve never…[Read more]

Nah, I’m betting he’s just looking to see if Larry accidentally drops a 20 out of his pocket. His job is to pick it up and hand it to Ayton.

At the beginning of the year I said what would keep this team from getting over the hump in close games would be rebounding and turnovers.
Dammit, I hate it when I’m occasionally right.

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic Prognostications for Utah vs Aridzona? in the forum Basketball (Men) 7 years, 6 months ago
Matchup-wise, I think Arizona is the better matchup for us. That said, Collette and Jayce are going to have to play tougher on D because UA will pound it inside.
I’m afraid ASU will be a blowout – they’re super athletic on the wings and we don’t match up well against that. Think UNLV but better. -

Even if Utah only won the south once every 25 years, that would be 400 times in 10,000 years. So yeah, I like our chances of doing it at least once. 🙂

Ever? Ever is a very long time. Dynasties change quickly in college sports. Just 10 years ago, the SEC was won by Tennessee while Alabama finished second to last. Fast forward 10 years and Alabama is about to win another national championship while Tennessee football can’t find their ass with both hands.
So even if Utah doesn’t win the south next…[Read more]

If GA does nothing more in the day-to-day football operation than sharpen pencils and occasionally rub one out under his desk, and Utah gets nothing more than his ability to recruit, then this is still a good hire.

I would. All 5 P5 champs, 2 P5 at-large, highest-ranked G5/independent (I would include Notre Dame in that group…they need to join a P5 conference or be counted as any other G5…they’ve lived off their “tradition” long enough).

Of course you can; you can do whatever you like or feel however you like. But the personal dislike of Urban doesn’t resonate with my experiences with him. I always found him to be a stand-up guy. I know many fans don’t like the noises he made prior to leaving, but really they were no different than what any of us would say about our current…[Read more]

I can understand not being able to stand THE Ohio St., but a Utah fan not being able to stand Urban? I just can’t figure out that line of thinking. He completely changed the trajectory of Utah football. Without him, we’re in the MWC today.

It’s not difficult if you’re a BYU-P coach. You just look for what position you need help with, see which missionaries play that position, get them an honorable early release for “medical reasons”, and then have them miraculously healed in time for spring ball.
