Some on this board suggested that Barnes had already had a scholarship. According to thisarticle, Barnes was awarded a scholarship after the Florida game.

I assume he may have had some NIL money to help with school.

I know nothing about Waco, but I don’t want to be the fanbase that trashes our conference’s towns. It makes us look like we think we are better than them.

Yes, but he was referring to the old Big 12 schools. It is true that the new Big 12 have a number of big city schools like the ones you mentioned.

We are 12th in the AP poll too. Colorado is 22nd.

Baylor did not play well but Texas State is a good team.

The Oline was disjointed. The Oline has 4 new starters and is still learning.

The Dbacks played poorly. The defense was the biggest surprise to him. He thought they would play better on defense.

By the way, the PAC 12 now has 6 ranked teams with a 7th just barely out of the top 25. It appears in their last season the PAC12 may be the best conference from top to bottom. We will have to see how it all plays out but you know the conference will eat its own in conference play.

We jumped LSU and Clemson and no team jumped us.

Colorado ranked 25th. I am only surprised it wasn’t higher based off the hype.

I think we are ranked about right (if Rising and Kuithe can play by conference).

This was from yesterday but ESPN700 did not play it until today because of the holiday.

Expects to see a better Baylor team this weekend. They have good coaches. Their offense looked good but had bad red-zone production.

We had a good win last week. The defense was the difference. We only had 4 missed tackles compared to 29 last year.

As for me, I would not have switched QB from one series to another. But, Whitt and Lud must have had their reasons. I suspect that they wanted to get NJ some real game experience, which is a good thing for the future. What happened was more about the long-term and not just winning that game IMO.

I agree. Play Cam to get rid of the rust. Then give the rest of the reps to Johnson. This should tell the coaching staff who the backup should be in conference play. Johnson needs the opportunity to run the entire playbook. He needs to get experience and confidence.

I don’t think this chart means anything. Everyone who was injured is now back in the two-deep. Do I believe it? No way. I guess Whitt is required to submit a depth chart. But, I don’t think it means anything. It didn’t last week and it looks the same to me.

This is how I would rank the PAC 12 teams after week 1. I have excluded Utah.

Washington – They plastered a decent Boise team.
Oregon – Tough to tell against Portland State, but they did what they had to do and scored 80 points while doing it.
Oregon State – Dominated on both sides of the ball against San Jose

Our defense seems to excel against QBs who lack experience. I expect Scalley to put a very aggressive package together for Baylor. But, they will focus on stopping the run first.

I tend to agree with you. However, 1) If Can is declared ready and he wants to go, does Whitt make a decision to sit him? 2) We shouldn’t take any game lightly and it is easy to do after seeing Baylor yesterday. Do we risk losing the game by sitting a healthy Cam Rising?

I think (don’t know) that Isbell thought that he would not start with Vaki and Ritchie in the mix, so he went where he could start for his senior season. I respect that and wish him well.
