ProudUte started the topic I think our final ranking is fair in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
I think being ranked 12th is about right. We are the ONLY four-loss team in the top-twenty and there is only one three-loss team ranked above us (Mississippi at 11).
We started the season poorly, fixed some things, and ended strong. It’s not how you start the season that counts (coug fans), it is how you finish.
I am happy to see our neighbors…[Read more] -

ProudUte started the topic All of the publicity helps the program in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
Yes, the ranking itself is meaningless, but the publicity is excellent. The more our name is in front of recruits the better. It also gives the current players a sense of pride.
I am far from being able to drink the kool-aid yet. But, there are many things to be optimistic about right now. I hope to be in Gainsville on September 3rd. That…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic 2025 National Championship game to be played in Vegas in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
In a perfect world:
– Whitt stays until then
– Utah makes the playoff and gets to the championship game
– We have 50,000 fans show up in Vegas for the game
– Whitt retires after the game

ProudUte started the topic Good article on what the PAC12 needs to do to improve at football in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
There are some very interesting stats in this article. The PAC12 schools need to increase their investment in football if they want to compete.
PAC12 commissioner talks football
Red state schools dominate in college football today; i.e. Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, et al. Is there a correlation? -
ProudUte started the topic Easter Michigan offers Caleb Williams $1 Million per year in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
This is an example of the NIL running amuck. See link below. This whole thing is getting crazy. Will USC match the million to get him to follow his former coach?

ProudUte started the topic Will Diabate be an edge rusher instead of a LB? in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
He started his career at Florida as an edge rusher. We seem to have some quality athletes ready to play LB. Edge rushing has not been great for the Utes since Anae left. I have no clue, just a thought. I’m sure Scalley will place him where he can do the most good.

ProudUte started the topic Answers from OnlyU in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
These are answers to questions I asked our friend OnlyU. They are down a few pages – so I thought I would repost it.
Bernard was clearly the best option out there with what was available and that was backed up in practice leading up to the game. You’ll see a small handful of the other CB’s moving on via the portal. They’re either not ready yet…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic Questions in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
Before asking these questions (hopefully, OnlyU can weigh in), I want to reiterate that I am very proud of my Utes and how they represented the university. Oddly, I did not feel bad after the loss like normally would.
1. I assume Bernard was our best option at corner. Were the young guys just not up to the task?
2. I appreciate Bernard’s…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic I am one very proud Ute in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
I am proud:
-Of Covey and very pleased he came to Utah. I hope he gets a chance in the NFL.
-Of Rising. He played a great game. I am happy to hear he seems okay.
-Of all three tight ends. What a group.
-Of Barnes. I had no clue who he was and he engineered a game-tying TD.
-Of Bernhard for giving 100%. You aren’t going to come in and…[Read more] -

I hate to lose him as our RB coach. But, when you have a good year – you will likely lose some guys.

ProudUte started the topic C'mon Herbie in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
Herbstreit said he expected the crowd to be close to 50-50 because OSU travels well. Desmond said there is no way that the attendance will be 50-50, maybe like 70-30.
I actually like Herbstreit and I think he has been fair to the Utes over the years, but on this subject – he needs to pull his head out of the sand. In the end, Utah winning the…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic ESPN Gameday in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
I didn’t realize that they are doing a Gameday on New Year’s Day. It will start at 8:00 AM from the Rose Bowl. Herbie is going to be one tired guy. He did the Georgia game tonight and will do the Rose Bowl tomorrow afternoon. He said he would be doing Gameday early in the morning.
Go Utes!!!

ProudUte started the topic Tomorrow is a great day in the forum Football 3 years, 7 months ago
I have no clue what will happen tomorrow. There are too many factors. i.e., turnovers, motivation, injuries/opt-outs, raw talent, penalties, game plans, etc. Utah could win big or they could lose big.
Regardless, January 1, 2022, is a great day in Utah football history. I certainly want to win. But, the results should not take away from this…[Read more] -

From the Deseret News:
While Utah players and coaches were enjoying themselves at Disneyland last Monday as part of Rose Bowl festivities, defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley was standing in line for the Matterhorn ride when he saw a boy wearing a BYU football jersey.
Not only did Scalley good-naturedly give him a fist bump, but he also took…[Read more] -
