Gary Andersen or the Stanford fan.
Ha ha. I love this conference. So many good teams. 8 wins is equivalent to 10 wins in the MWC. Shot at a Rose Bowl. Huge games with UCLA and Washington coming up.
BUT, Cal could easily kick out asses tonight.
LOVE IT.
Here’s to getting better, a week at a time.

Utah started the topic The Upcoming "Expansion" (but in reality, contraction) in College Football in the forum Football 8 years, 10 months ago
The big hangup on getting 4 super conferences is the idea that all four conferences need to have 16 teams. But why? None of the conferences have even teams right now. There is no need to have each conference be even.
So, here is my thoughts on how we end up with 4 super conferences:
We know the Big 12 is dead. So, what happens to the Big…[Read more]

Utah started the topic How crazy is this: Troy Williams' best game came vs USC. U.S.FREAKING.C. in the forum Football 8 years, 10 months ago
Not Weber St. Not BYU. Not SUU.
Look at this:
Week 1 QBR: 44.9
Week 2 QBR: 37.7
Week 3 QBR: 40.2
Week 4 QBR: 83.0He took a HUGE step forward. Like the announcer said during the game, the play of the game might have been Troy throwing the ball away in the red zone to allow Utah a chance to live another play.
Has he turned the…[Read more]

There is a simple reality that now that we aren’t in a conference with BYU and we keep beating them, the rivalry will fade.
But when? It will happen when something big/terrible/emotional happens with a team in the PAC-12…other than a California team. We will have to win something/take something/prevent someone from winning…[Read more]

My takeaways:
Offensively, we are as good as any of the top teams in the conference. And, we’ve played maybe the toughest defensive teams so far. And Patrick and Butler-Byrd? Holy cow, we have some very, very good WR’s. VERY GOOD.
Stanford may be like Utah the last two years. Really good defensively, but if McCaffery (Booker) gets hurt, they…[Read more]

Top 2 WR’s:
Utah: 29 catches/500 yards, 17 yards a catch, 6 TD (and Butler-Byrd missed two games)
Wash: 29/464, 16 yds/catch, 9 TD
Stan: 22/231, 10 yds/catch, 3 TD
UCLA: 23/378, 16 yds/catch, 1 TD
Colo: 39/646, 16 yds/catch, 7 TDAgain, we are right there. And, Butler-Byrd is our second leading receiver and he missed SUU and BYU.

Wash top 3: 114/681 for a 5.9 average and 3 TD.

UCLA top 3: 101/406 for a 4.0 average and 5 TD.
Colo top 3: 120/584 for a 4.8 average and 8 TD.Again, Utah is right there in the thick of things. Not too bad…[Read more]

So, I was listening to the radio and some guy from PAC-12 networks (Kennedy, I think) was talking about how the PAC-12’s only hope at a playoff berth was Washington or Stanford.
So, I looked up the QB’s of Utah, Stanford, UCLA, Washington and Colorado (Colorado I put both their QB’s together), the top 3 RB’s of each team and the top 2 WR’s of…[Read more]

So, I looked up the QB’s of Utah, Stanford, UCLA, Washington and Colorado (Colorado I put both their QB’s together), the top 3 RB’s of each team and the top 2 WR’s of each team. This is what I found:
QB’s:
62.5% – Troy Williams (Utah)
70.5% – Browning (Wash)
62% – Stanford
61% – Rosen (UCLA)
66% – Colorado (but Colorado is misleading.…[Read more] -

I think in order for us to win the south, we need to hit a couple of benchmarks:
1 – we need to average 34 points per game. Reality: 27. Status: Failing. Trending: Up.
1a – In PAC-12 play, we are averaging 31 points per game. Status: Almost There.
2 – we need to average 225 yards passing per game. Reality: 254 yards. Status: Achieving. Trending:…[Read more] -

SC gives three guys the bulk of their carries, like us: Davis, Jones, Ware.
Davis: 37 att, 3.6 avg, 0 TD
Jones: 23 att, 5.1 avg, 1 TD
Ware: 17 att, 4.6 avg, 1 TD
I’m not sure what to make of this, because they have played Alabama and Stanford.
Alabama is allowing opposing teams to rush for 2.3 yards/carry. USC ran for 2.1 yards per…[Read more]

Troy Williams vs Darnold
TW: 63%, 8.4 y/a, 4 TD, 4 INT (although the last INT vs BYU should not have been an INT)
SD: 64%, 6 y/a, 2 TD, 1 INT
SD has played a bit this year, although it was against second stringers in games SC wasn’t going to win. But, it was against Alabama and Stanford’s second stringers and they are no slouches.

I can’t wait for this game. No disrespect to BYU (ok, lots of disrespect to BYU), we haven’t played anyone of any sort of decent talent. We’ve been a lot better than our opponents, we’ve played really good at times and TERRIBLE at others…Who are we?

Utah replied to the topic Three Key Pac-12 Games This Week in the forum Pac-12 8 years, 10 months ago
I think Colorado won’t be much better. Remember, the last two years they have lost a TON of close games. This year is no different than the last couple. They have good talent, but no depth, so they fade late in games.

I was looking at Troy’s QBR on ESPN and…man…he is terrible.
Out of 125 college QB’s, he is 85.
In the PAC-12, he is dead last…by a large margin.
In comparison, Travis Wilson was almost 20 points better.
Troy has so much potential, and he does so many things well…then we get into the redzone and he becomes a much different…[Read more]
