Before you shared Jerry Rice’s 40 time, I was thinking Vele was in 4.7 territory. If you saw that catch and run he made against UW, he was unexplosive and slow. He should have scored on that play.
You can argue that speed is an overrated WR quality, but the reality is it is measured and valued, sometimes heavily emphasized in player evaluation, s…[Read more]

Doesn’t have a great stat sheet and his lack of speed will hurt his chances. More likely UDFA, which can work out well.
I don’t know that another year in this system does anything for him. Makes sense to move forward.

To clarify, based on what we need at QB to achieve team goals, I don’t think BB can be in the mix for QB1 or QB2. IMO, he should be on the team and on scholarship. He’s earned all of that.

Yergensen replied to the topic QB in the forum Football 1 year, 6 months ago
BB can’t be in the mix. He’s the 80th ranked QB in CFB. That’s not P5 quarterbacking, that’s not good G5 quarterbacking. He’s 4-3 as a starter (stop counting Baylor, NJ won that game and had BB finished it he would be 4-4). We’re playing for conference championships, this won’t cut it.
There were mistakes made that put us in a situation whe…[Read more]

Top 20 football program for sure, but brand is not solely based on performance. We’re not a big brand.

You’re right, is there a reason why they’re getting these poor matchups?
I watch TNF because I think Prime production is good, really like their panel. I also like Herbie as an analyst.

Don’t assume for a second that this manipulation will go away with the 12 team playoff. The P2 will be maximizing the number of teams they get in limiting B12, ACC entrants to minimum requirement.

Yergensen replied to the topic WR Eric McAlister Leaving BSU in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
McClain stats: 6 receptions for 167 yds and 1 TD. That’s almost 30 yds per. Not a chicken and egg scenario, obvious playmaker who needs a lot more targets and touches.
But in Andy’s Socialist offense it’s 2 for everyone. BTW – Carrington didn’t play for Andy. Likely Andy would have had him sacrificing his talent for the system as well.

Cuz our receivers get 1-2 touches a game, run untargeted or block the rest of the time.
Free Munir McClain!!!

Yeah, stats are always pretty telling.
BB: 56% completion rate, 4 TD to 5 Int, 44.2 QBR (100th best in CFB)
OnlyU himself said BB is limited. The stats suggest he is not a P5 QB or close to it. Appreciate his grit and how the team rallies around him. We’ll scrap together 8-9 wins this year and make a bowl and he deserves some credit for that, B…[Read more]

McClain isn’t just tall, he is a threat in space. He gets YAC better than anyone. This is how we should be using him. However, can’t be productive when you’re not on the field and the game plan doesn’t utilize you.
Don’t know why I waste my time talking about Utah WR recruiting and usage, all things Utah WR are beating a dead horse.

Klatt gets us, and the rest of the country is starting to get us as well. Character and toughness, traditional values, are becoming popular in a day of “me” sports and “me football”. As Landen King said, “I love this team.”
Resilient!
Overcame block in the back of Damuni on the punt return. Overcame a drop, 2 false starts and a bad mark on the game winning drive to win. Oh yeah and Brick (Barnes) killed a man!

Yergensen replied to the topic Vaki should move to offense full-time in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
We don’t win tonight without Vaki on offense period. Ritchie is better next man up than Glover. But with Lander out, the defense has already lost one of its top players. Tough call, but I don’t think that playing him both ways to this extent is sustainable.
