Yergensen replied to the topic Vaki should move to offense full-time in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
We don’t win tonight without Vaki on offense period. Ritchie is better next man up than Glover. But with Lander out, the defense has already lost one of its top players. Tough call, but I don’t think that playing him both ways to this extent is sustainable.

Yergensen replied to the topic Hate to complain, however #8 should have been called for a targeting as well. in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
Pretty sure Barnes led with the crown of his helmet. Targeting on Barnes, he hammered that kid.

Vaki is elite and Barnes is a tough sonofagun. Huge game next Saturday, LFG!

All day long I want him back. This team with one more year experience and full health would destroy fools.

Yergensen replied to the topic Double reverse playcall – intervention needed in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
Pretty sure Covey’s play was a jet sweep or single reverse with pass option. He threw once and ran it the second time when his receiver was covered. It worked both times, but not the same play.

Does anyone know anyone that knows anyone that can influence Ludwig to remove this play from his playbook. It has never worked in his 2nd stint at Utah and has gone wrong a few times, but he continues to go back to it. He needs help letting it go. Please help him.

Yergensen replied to the topic WR in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
Munir McClain has played in 2 games this season, his stat line: 4 targets, 4 receptions 131 yds or 33 yds per catch. He’s a playmaker.
Other coordinators would design and call plays his way. But Whit and Ludwig value defense, ball and clock control.

That can’t be rushing offense. It’s rushing defense. When you’re offense is ranked bottom 10 it’s impossible that the rushing component could be top 10.

Yeah, JJ’s Baylor performance against stacked boxes and while injured shows how impactful he is. Big missing piece.

Coulda fooled me that he was learning the position. Has years in front of him. Could be a great one, excited about his prospects.

Yergensen replied to the topic Sounds like Randle is getting some reps in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
It really doesn’t matter whether a guy is getting 1 or 2 yards ramming into the wall. It’s producing 7 points per game. Randle is a playmaker who ran well between the tackles in HS. He’s a one cut and go style runner. I’m hoping these are more indications that we’re going to use our speed and athleticism and go around the wall once in awhile.

Yergensen replied to the topic Now Chris Curry is out for the season. in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
What I think was telling with Glover was the run he had against OSU where he got to the next level, which hasn’t been easy for him, and instead of running to the next seam/daylight, he danced. Good guy, team guy, hope he can make the step up.

Yergensen replied to the topic Now Chris Curry is out for the season. in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
It’s really too bad. We’ve been pulling for Chris Curry evidenced by the ovation he got in the Weber St game. There are a lot of careers cut short in this game. I love the game, but it’s violence and carnage.
May need to go to the freshmen. John Randle would give us some playmaking that we don’t have in the backfield right now, but playcal…[Read more]

Love the NIL deal. It was innovative, got national attention and credit and the players loved it. There will be copycats, but should undoubtedly help retention and recruiting. I’m done talking about the rest. Hope we can find a spark offensively, players and/or scheme, to get us some dubs.

Yergensen replied to the topic Cam Rising is the GOAT and a U Icon in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
I won’t argue against Alex Smith who was 2 for 2 in G5 championships and undefeated Fiesta Bowl season. He helped elevate the program under those circumstances. Cam similarly helped elevate the program under different P5 circumstances. What both did was unprecedented. So, I won’t argue against Alex Smith, but it is at least debatable with my pre…[Read more]

If Cam never plays another down for us, which I believe he’s doing everything possible to do, he will go down in my book as the GOAT.
Two P12 championships in two tries. His play and leadership elevated teams and the program to new heights.
Long hair, jumbo helmet, stiff arming tacklers to make that extra yard and getting up smiling after t…[Read more]

As with any leader at the top, Coach Whit in this case, you are responsible for knowing and then planning and executing accordingly.
If Whit didn’t know, he should have known. He is at least negligent and that is almost as damning as the other outcome. The other outcome is he did know, he mistakingly hoped for an early return while m…[Read more]
