Bottom 5 offense, embarrassing and inexcusable.

Yergensen replied to the topic If Cam was to play – how much difference would it make? in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
I’ve shared these numbers previously. Cam led offense historically has scored on average 38.5 points per game. Our backups have averaged 25 points per game (thru FL game) a 2 TD difference. Even assuming Cam’s productivity drops due to immobility and personnel, the backup drop in productivity has probably been even greater over the past 4 gam…[Read more]

I was a Logan Fano fan before the injury, now a big fan. Pulling for him to get all the way back healthy and play at a high level again (his tweeted hope btw).
Canzano article on the moment it happened and aftermath. Logan Fano

ZW was passed over for Jack Tuttle, not Jayden Daniels. ZW and Tuttle were 2018 classes, Daniels was 2019.

AF safety, high 3*, was predicted to Notre Dame, predictions just shifted to Utah.

Yergensen replied to the topic So what would you do if your were the coach? in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
Nothing highly creative is needed, simply tailor offensive game plans to NJ strengths. RPO with keepers, move the pocket, have NJ throw on the run or run if option 1-2 aren’t there.
Mystery why the playcalling changed when BB came in and were plays suited for NJ. Also, why haven’t we seen the NJ utility plays from last year (runs around end) and…[Read more]

Whit and Lud have not had a capable backup QB for Cam going on 3 seasons now. You can rationalize the transfer portal decision all you want, but they didn’t have a capable backup in 2021 and 2022 either.
Did they mistake the adequacy/talent of their backups? Did they mistake in the development of their backups. Did they mistake in not going p…[Read more]

It’s more than a transfer QB in case Cam doesn’t come back on time this season. Whit and Lud haven’t had a capable backup QB for 3 years now. The backup for 3 seasons has pretty much been a 1A high school walk-on QB. Maybe Rose would have been/is that guy, but he got maimed in practice of all places. If you look beyond the portal decision, the p…[Read more]

Complete perspective is this: Whit has made the best of a tough situation and deserves credit for that. However, it’s his job to build a championship team. He has a championship defense, however he bungled the most important position on the team (again) and will likely miss out on a championship because of it. He deserves the criticism for this.

^this, tailor plays to NJ. RPO, move the pocket, throw on run, run at edges. Lud does it when NJ is utility player, but not as a starter, why?
-
Yergensen replied to the topic Crap in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
Lud is to blame for not designing and calling plays to NJ strengths. He’s not a pocket passer, yet. His footwork, flat footed throws, needs work. He throws better on the run and runs better than he throws. Attack the edges, run RPO with NJ reading and keeping when right, move the pocket. The play calling for NJ is different in his utility use t…[Read more]

We’re 4-1 against mostly P5 competition. Lost on the road against a ranked team we expected could be an L coming into the season. We’ve done this with a ton of injuries and seen that we have quality depth. Also, I think this loss may cause the coaches to rethink their offensive game plans, but then again maybe not. Given the circumstances, we’…[Read more]

Yergensen replied to the topic Rose NJ Barnes in the forum Football 1 year, 8 months ago
Randle is a future star that could accelerate the process by leapfrogging some more senior players. He’s a one cut and burst RB. Go watch his HS tape, I think you’ll see exciting and college ready game from him.

Nope, we missed wildly with plug and play transfer QBs. Both were straight up broken. Nate just needs some more experience. If that comes with some losses, so be it. We’ll be better for it in the long term.

Per Steve Smith Sr. Utah fans turn into “Gremlins” at RES at night. I think we lose a bit of that energy in day home games, sunlight kills Gremlins.
I don’t like 8:30pm November starts, but love the intimidation combination of dark + cold + gremlin. Hope we can produce something similar tomorrow and in future day games which we’ll maybe see mor…[Read more]
