    Good job!

Not bad for one day’s work!

  • Crimson Clover

Agreed. I hope this site gets traction.

  • Tony

Many thanks. Spread the word! And please feel free to critique and make suggestions. We are just getting started.

    Posted from my phone!

Wow, the format works amazingly well on my iPhone 6+. I’d actually be willing to donate for this. šŸ˜‰

      Thanks!

Edit to say, you may want to rethink the logo. I’m seeing lots of comments on it.

  • MauchDawgUte

Portrait on 5s doesn’t look great. Replies are almost like huge columns of text. Landscape works well but I imagine most people will read in portrait. Nice work on getting the site up. I hope this coup is a success. šŸ™‚

    • javadave

Agreed. It does look a bit columnish on replies.

      • Tony

Yes reply format on mobile sucks for now. I’ll fix it at some point.

  • Like the block UH logo. I grew up in Houston and it makes me think

University of Houston every time I see it. That’s not really a bad thing though.

  • Tony

We will have a new logo soon!

  • One Day's Work!

In less than 24 hours I’ve managed to register the site domain, build a basic framework, and deploy it.

Solid work! Looking great so far!!!!

The apostrophes in the topic subject aren’t being unescaped. I’m not familiar with bbpress, is it a mature product? Does it have good community support? I know there are many BB projects out there for PHP, any particular reason you chose this one over others?

It’s an improvement in a lot of areas over UFN right out of the box, but that’s a low bar to hurdle. I do like the general conversation flow at UFN better then the vBullitin style of large monolithic threads that ‘bump’ to the top of the category list when new replies are added. I like seeing all the category topics in one list in chronological order as well and then being able to filter unwanted topics out like soccer by toggling a checkbox.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread for feedback.

  • Tony

I’ve noticed the escape issue and I’m quite surprised the out of the box product, which is many years old, doesn’t deal with it properly. There are quite a few bbpress plugins and mods.

I’m a developer with pretty deep experience in Joomla and WordPress. WP of late has been my platform of choice because of how clunky joomla is, and how horrid it is to upgrade when they change versions. I started bbpress as a test but so many asked to try out the site I ran with it. bbpress is unorthodox in a few ways, and no engine will be perfect for everyone.

Corey Butler-Byrd 98 Yard Kickoff Return

  • Jumpmasterute

    That was sweet.

  • Tacoma Ute

That was an incredible return. Covey’s was pretty good too.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong here, but here is Britain Covey’s return.

    Speed kills!

I like the potential of this new site.

    Retribution for the unsportsmanlike.

  • 89ute

I read in the paper that Tim Patrick did not make the trip. I’m a little surprised because he had a few reps last week in the Utah St. game. I wonder if Butler-Bird will be back on offense? I don’t recall him getting a lot of reps at corner. Plus, the way Brian Allen is knocking everyone’s dick in the dirt on special teams, I’d like to see him on the field a little more.

  • UtahUteGuy

Seems like he broke four tackles there. That inside cut at the beginning was gutsy and gave him the space to eventually get the the edge.

  • FormerUteSax

I wish he would have handed the ball to the ref. Otherwise great return

  • Tony

IowaUte: Stuff that contains a script tag which will not work because of site security and the possibility of it getting hacked. Not that I don’t trust you, but the Chinese are pretty bad.

I realize Youtube videos and twitters may be that same way and maybe we can figure that out.

  • UtahUtesRock

I know he prefers defense but his speed and ability to break tackles on that play made me wonder what could have been if he stayed put at receiver.

  • RedondoUte

That was an awesome run! Almost a block in the back by Marcus Sanders-Williams…I thought he was redshirting?

  • Astute Ute

Nice we have had a PAC12 player in each week. 1. Thomas, 2. Gianni Paul, 3. Butler-Byrd… I hope we can continue the trend

  • UtahSig

I love that run. The fact that he broke 2 or 3 tackles is just impressive. Hope we can see a couple of these in conference games.

I think it is a tribute to the special teams coaching that we have seen KO and punts returned for touchdowns with some regularity since Shaky.

  • UtahMan

Thanks for posting this video. I was really impressed with his acceleration after clearing some of the traffic. Dude is fast. Covey has an amazing ability to juke and make people miss. I’m guessing that we have not seen the last big return from him. He is such a welcomed surprise.

  • Rick

The stiff arm was amazing. Had he not done that he would have been tackled. He is one fast dude!

  • ironman1315

This has made him ST Pac-12 player of the week.

  • Brettski

Love the first juke at 0.08

    2015-2016 BBall Schedule

    Maybe post the schedule here.

  • GadValleyUte

Looks like we have maybe more than our fare share of ESPN/FS1 games. I guess that comes with the sweet 16 run. I’m interested to see how this team runs without Delon. He really was just so damn good. If Poeltl can stay out of foul trouble, Reyes can make a layup, and I. Wright can pick up a bit of Delon’s abilities then I think we’ve got another trip to the dance.

    • AZswayze

Iā€™m interested to see how this team runs without Delon.

Coach K already said he plans on tailoring the team around Poeltl, and I think we have some great players to compliment his inside presence. Bealer is the wild card in my mind. If he can step in and take some of the slack of losing a huge playmaker in Delon then I can see this team actually being better overall. I’m not saying Bealer is going to live up to Wright’s status, or needs to, just hoping he can have enough of an impact to take some pressure off Poeltl down low.

      • GadValleyUte

I hope Poeltl really shines as a dominant post presence this year. I think that helps come Tourney time because shooting in those domes is really terrible. I have high hopes for this team.

I seem to remember losing a great Ute basketball player and making it to the NCAA finals the year after he left.
