Fortunately, this is the perfect year for this to happen considering this age of free agency that we are in. Beck will be able to bring in players that fit his system.

I think for Huard it is probably a reflection of OC. Otherwise doesn’t make sense

I just have to wonder what the decision process is for some of these players. For example, in my estimation, Utah was the last P4 chance for a guy like Huard, who’s already had opportunities and proven to be found wanting. My guess is that Huard goes back to some FCS program in a quest for some automatic playing time.

Agree, none of Utah’s QBs on the 2024 roster fit the player profile for Beck’s offense. Guessing Beck lands a couple QBs in the portal matched with Becks QB running scheme. Might see Becker also hit the portal being a pro-style QB. Either way, zero expectations for meaningful improvement with KW as head coach.

Rising is actually in a great spot. He may be the first ever million dollar backup in college football history. Which one? Walker Eget or Emmett Brown? San Jose State this season reminded me of FSU in the late 70s in the sense that they used two QBs extensively.

Rising won’t survive in Beck’s true RPO offense. Dampier in 2024, 155 carry’s for 1,166 yards. In Rising’s few run plays, he looked a step slow. Small sample of work due to injuries of course. That said, we’ll likely see the KW, sabotaged version of Beck’s offense. 2025 is the KW rehab attempt tour and collecting his pay check.

The reality of the transfer portal: Players are going to leave, new players will come in to replace them. Only time will tell on how the change shakes out.

Honestly, with a change in OC and overall what type of offense we run, I actually have some hope that the defense won’t get hung out to dry for multiple games in 2025. Regarding Rising, those are exactly my thoughts. His leverage is zero. If he’s healthy, or as healthy as he can possibly be, then he’d make a decent veteran backup. However, that’s also dependent on what offense Beck installs. I do hope that you’re correct about Dampier.
